Two weeks post-Battle Royale, and I’m still processing all the emotions from the night of. When I first set out to bring BR back after COVID three years ago, I never could’ve imagined the scale of the show we pulled off this year. The energy on that night was special and I’ve genuinely never felt a crowd as loud and invested as on that day. I’m beyond grateful to every director and dancer who trusted me to bring them a stage. @jolene.yovng , my assistant producer, BR genuinely wouldn’t have happened without you. Your initiative, drive, and fresh perspective pushed me to be more ambitious and gave me the space to finally bring long-standing ideas to life. To all the incredible talent I had the chance to work with: designers, videographers, photographers, DJs, models, and judges. Thank you for making the process so collaborative and effortless. Your initiative and creative vision brought the night to life. To all of my volunteers and friends: @nicole_pound , @rachellee.qiu , @sharon_scwong , @nayoung.leeee , @anton_jn , @baileeysok . Thank you for fielding my endless questions and supporting me throughout, you always gave the best advice and kept me from going insane. To everyone who supported and encouraged me in Year 1 and 2: @emilyqnguyen , @kara.tsi , @celiinneeee , @genesis_garing , @dee_ricc , @jake.peter.pan , @ja._riv . BR wouldn’t have even gotten off the ground without you. Thank you for putting in the work and inspiring me in the early days. Looking ahead, like I mentioned at house meeting, my core belief as a producer revolves around bringing the right people together in the right room and giving them the space to create something special. My dream is to keep evolving Battle Royale: bigger and better stages, more unique performances, and smoother show days for everyone involved. I’ll see y’all next year for the newest iteration 🫡. P.S. Running for @vibedancecomp was such an honor and privilege. Being able to witness and assist artists and dancers at their highest level on the biggest stage is something I never dreamed of. I’m endlessly grateful to have received so many opportunities thus far this year to give and receive so much support from the community I love <3. Producing Resurgence this year meant the world. RSG was one of the first competitions I had ever watched and looked up to when I started dancing, so being entrusted to help carry it forward still feels unbelievable to me. I vividly remember attending the first Bridge after Covid and giving a standing ovation after seeing VMO tear up the stage. I remember being inspired by ACA at Bridge 2014 long before I ever moved to California, at a time when I was barely dancing at all. To now be in a position where I have the privilege to serve and give back to the community and continue a legacy is the greatest gift. Thank you to @j_phaam and @albright_alec for bringing me onto the show. Your trust in my potential and my vision means more than I can properly express. Thank you to @chlobomallari for creating incredible graphics, being thoughtful throughout the process, and always bringing a grounded, level-headed perspective to every idea. Thank you to @megchenggg for being such a joy to work with and for absolutely crushing it on show day by stepping into the AV and tech booth role so seamlessly. Thank you to all of the judges that I had the honor of working with. Being able to support and guide the instructors and dancers I have admired and learned from for years was truly special. Thank you to @rememberhans and @monmillena for flying out and lending your time, energy, and artistry. Your presence and your work did not go unnoticed. Thank you to @the.rickycole , @deborah_yeh and @lisaryu16 , all of our vendors, and @teammillennia for being so easy to work with and making the weekend possible. Witnessing over 50 teams backstage and seeing how much performing together and having a stage truly mattered to them this weekend reinforced how deeply I care about this community and the responsibility that comes with creating for it. 🍊THESIS DANCE FESTIVAL 🍊 This weekend changed my life. I landed in Tampa not really knowing what to expect and left with a completely new perspective on dance, life, community, and a deeper understanding of what an event can really be. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that much in one weekend, cried that much because of dance, or been welcomed into a community so quickly and so genuinely. Huge thank you to @rememberhans for bringing me out to help with stage management. It was an absolute honor to take care of and organize every dancer who battled this weekend. Hans, you are a true master of your craft, and your intention and soul shine through every part of this event. 2RealBnB, yall already know how much I appreciate you. I was beyond sleep deprived all weekend and after, but every moment with yall made the nights worth it. To all the judges, dancers, and teachers who showed so much love for the craft and inspired me through your art, thank you. And to my fellow staff and crew, we really made this weekend happen and had an absolute blast along the way. Grateful for every moment with yall. 🍊
