I summoned my bravery and finally spoke out with my truth about leaving To Proudly Go on the Hailing Frequencies Open podcast. I am immensely disappointed yet not surprised to learn that, rather than using his own platforms to address the legitimate criticisms I mentioned and tell his side of the story, the response from Michael Agnew (CEO and Chair of the Board for TPG) was to pressure HFO both personally and with the aid of people who are not previous listeners of the podcast to remove my comments and act as though the criticism didn’t exist in the first place.
For anyone interested: here are those comments. I wanted to share them here as I think it is important to share the truth. I believe Michael’s response—burying my statements rather than facing them—only supports my perspective, as those actions are directly against the ethics and morals that TPG claims to have on paper.
I am tired of the truth being silenced by people who are acting with bad intentions. There are more than 10 other members of the organization who quit around the same time for the same reasons, including a concerning lack of transparency as to how the funds of a specific large donation were to be used. A majority of those funds still sit in the TPG bank account against the will of the donor who requested they be donated to Chosen Family Law Center to help the trans community since they were not used for the original intention of the donation in creating a drag fellowship program. People in the Star Trek community have a right to know the truth. I will not be silenced any longer.
