𝘀𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝟰: Leetzuy
Stroking Egeau, 2026 Oil on wood 165 x 113 x 8 cm
The exhibition is now open until 30 May at Peckham Oasis Gallery
Open Thursday - Saturday, 12pm-5pm
Leetzuy has decided to renounce the artist statement as a format for superimposing words onto the visual art that she makes. There are two reasons for this. For those who have not yet seen the works, the artist does not wish her preconceptions to interfere with their imagination, nor to promise a fiction the work itself may not deliver. Instead, the artist would like to share a story:
Napmare
84 cannot feel its toes. At this moment, the only thing it can think of is to jerk itself out of the frozen present. 84 cannot be sure whether it has just
fallen asleep or is waking up. It knows it exists, but beyond that, nothing else.
It suddenly remembers to breathe. It had forgotten for half a second, then instinct kicks in. Once 84’s body knows it is still getting oxygen, the wave
sinks into pH7, dipping back a few seconds earlier, under the yellow lake;
48 was going somewhere before... then here it is again, holding two loaded buckets, marching. Its bottoms are slightly damp; the freshness from a
minute ago has lapped over them, leaving a squishy chill. The light is closer now, and the powdered dark spine drags longer behind.
...:”It’s not mine!!!!”

Held between memory and display.
The body folds into itself, suspended against a backdrop that never fully holds it. Cool, luminous tones separate it from the warmth of the surrounding light, as if presence and environment no longer belong to the same reality.
What once unfolded as a journey settles into a condition. The image remains, fixed yet unsettled, like something placed and left to be seen.
Not everything fades. Some images stay, held in place, carrying their own sense of time.

Leetzuy (b.1994, Taiwan) is a London based artist. Her practice begins with words written on 3M Post-it notes, which she develops alongside objects and stories, eventually translating them into painting. She graduated with First Class Honours in Fine Art and History of Art from Goldsmiths in 2025 and is currently pursuing postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Arts.
This is about the moment something shifts.
Not everything has to be right to feel true.
𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 captures that fleeting moment of release, where movement returns without hesitation, and the weight of getting it wrong quietly falls away.
