Inspiring the next generation of sustainable food champions!
On 25 April, we welcomed an enthusiastic group of young people to @harperadamsuni for an action‑packed Challenge Day apart of The Sustainable You(th) Challenge, diving into what sustainability really means for food and farming.
Throughout the day, they rolled up their sleeves and explored everything from sustainable food choices and healthy soils, to hedgerows, cutting‑edge tech, and innovation in potato growing 🥔 – sparking curiosity, creativity, and big ideas for the future.
Next stop? @openfarmsunday , where they’ll take their learning out onto real farms and put their knowledge into practice by spotting sustainable farming in action. We can’t wait to see what they discover!
We’re delighted to welcome Ian Mace to our Board of Trustees.
Ian brings extensive experience from his role as Head of Government Affairs and Policy at Associated British Foods plc (ABF), leading on key issues such as food security, agriculture, decarbonisation, packaging, and trade policy. Prior to this role, Ian qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and then held several senior finance roles in ABF.
With a strong background in government relations and post‑Brexit supply chain resilience, Ian’s insight will be a valuable asset to LEAF. We’re really looking forward to his perspective and contribution.

Last week, we welcomed Year 12 A‑Level Business Studies students from a @leaf_education demonstration school for an inspiring visit to Blackdown Growers, giving them a behind‑the‑scenes look at how our teams work together to deliver premium, sustainably grown produce.
From exploring our growing areas and learning about environmental management to following the full journey from harvest to dispatch, students experienced modern agriculture in action and discovered the wide range of careers it offers.
A huge thank you to Elizabeth Lake and the @leaf_farming team for organising such a brilliant visit - we look forward to welcoming more students soon. 🌱
Farmers: Want to connect people to the roots of their food? #OFS26 is the way to do it.

Curious about what LEAF has been up to in the past year?
Here are some key highlights from our Annual Review to give you a preview:
- Our annual conference tackled urgent challenges facing global agriculture
- @openfarmsunday welcomed over 200,000 visitors
- We launched our first international Demonstration Farm in South Africa
…and that’s just the beginning.
We were delighted to recently bring together a small group of regenerative farming practitioners, advisers, and stakeholders to speak into the development of the Regen Academy. Thank you to all who attended this pivotal event to help shape the planning and delivery of a platform that will be designed to support farmers around the globe.
Launching in late 2026, the Regen Academy will be a farmer led learning and support space, aiming to turn regenerative agriculture ideas into confident action on farm. We know there’s not always a single starting point for most people when it comes to their regen journey, which is why the focus is on real world context, decision making, and usability.
If you’re curious about regenerative agriculture, you don’t have to wait to get a preview of what’s coming to the Academy. You can now explore taster materials on the Regen Academy webpage, drawing on LEAF’s longstanding work in regenerative and whole farm systems, including our heritage of Integrated Farm Management (IFM). The Academy is a chance for us to build forward from trusted foundations.
On the Academy’s webpage (www.leaf.eco/regen-academy) you can get involved in a number of ways:
• Share your views via the short survey
• Register your interest to stay connected as the Academy develops
