Wow! What an incredible day/night we had in Rotherham at a fabulous fundraiser in aid of @fcncharity . There was a cake and coffee morning, tractor run and an evening filled with friends old and new, laughter and lots of dancing!
We’ve had a brilliant @fcncharity training day today with some of the Northern volunteers. A day full of training followed by a tour round the farm at @beadlamgrangefarmshop - A huge thanks to Mark and all the staff at @beadlamgrangefarmshop for being brilliant hosts!
What a brilliant day at @cheshireploughing today. The sun shone, people were in good spirits and we had some great conversations about the issues in farming at the minute! Thanks to @agricontract_ollyblogs for the quadtrac for the stand - it was the starting point for a lot of conversations! Having worked alongside the Farming Community Network, collecting donations at our shows, we know just how vital it is to talk about mental health.
Our friend Mark Grimes captures this brilliantly in his book ‘The Pie Eating Man’s Guide to a Healthy Mind’ - a brutally honest yet unexpectedly funny take on surviving mental health struggles, written by a pie-loving bloke who once thought yoga, mindfulness, and meditation weren’t for “people like him.”
If you or someone you know is struggling, remember the Farming Community Network is always there to listen. And if you’re looking for something relatable (and a bit of a laugh along the way), Mark’s book is a great place to start, and you can find it on Amazon.

I had such a wonderful time at the Bilsdale Show just down the road from my farm, it felt like a real stone’s throw away. This was my first visit since moving here in November 2023, and although it is a smaller event, it carried so much heart. The show’s long history and its role in the farming community make it a cherished tradition.
It was brilliant catching up with familiar faces and meeting new people, including friends from social media who recognised me instantly, which, whether that is a good thing or not, certainly gave us all a good laugh. Huge shout-outs to @bayviewbees , @crowberry.wood , @lisaloustyle , @fcn_north , @fcncharity , @kevinhollinrakemp , and @focusingevents , your presence helped make the day even more special.
A little about the show’s legacy: The Bilsdale Agricultural Show has been held annually for over a century, thriving on the support of the local public, businesses, and volunteers. It runs on a not-for-profit basis with proceeds directed to local charities. Set in the beautiful valley of Bilsdale, within the North York Moors National Park, it showcases the best of agriculture, crafts, and rural life, bringing together families, farmers, and neighbours for a truly memorable summer day.

The Farming Community Network (FCN) is a charity that provides free and confidential support to farmers, their families and rural communities across England and Wales. Their team of dedicated volunteers, many from farming backgrounds themselves, offer a listening ear and practical help with challenges such as financial pressures, family difficulties, health concerns and the day-to-day stresses of farming life. FCN also runs FarmWell, an online resource that helps farmers and their families plan for the future and look after their wellbeing.
