📣 Big changes are coming to Medi-Cal starting in 2026. 📣
New eligibility rules and benefit changes will impact millions of Californians, from enrollment freezes and dental coverage elimination to upcoming work requirements. This calendar outlines the key dates and which groups they will impact.
California still has the power to reverse cuts and freezes while protecting access to care, but it will take all of us raising our voices. 🧡

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨: @CAGovernor has signed #SB81 into law, effective immediately! Thank you, Governor, for protecting patient privacy and ensuring California’s healthcare spaces remain safe places for care, not immigration enforcement. 🏥⚖️
We are deeply grateful for the leadership of @senarreguin , and honored to stand alongside our co-sponsors @lchc_ca , @caimmigrant , @calnurses , and @seiuca in this fight to safeguard our immigrant communities. 🙌🏽💜
We’re proud that SB 81 is part of a powerful package of immigration enforcement bills signed today — protecting immigrant families’ rights in hospitals and schools while holding enforcement agencies transparent and accountable. 💜✊🏽
Together, we’ll continue working to ensure every patient can seek care with dignity and without fear. ✊🏽❤️‍🔥
SB 1422 passed out of Senate Appropriations Committee! ✊🏽
SB 1422 represents another critical opportunity to end the dangerous Medi-Cal freeze currently preventing people from accessing the care they need!

California cannot claim to lead on equity while freezing immigrant communities out of healthcare. ❌
Governor Newsom’s revised budget doubles down on harmful Medi-Cal freezes and barriers to care, putting immigrant Californians at greater risk.
We’re calling on the Legislature to keep fighting for solutions that protect Medi-Cal access and reject these harmful cuts.

TODAY: May #CAbudget Revision proposed by @cagovernor continues to target immigrants, low-income families, older adults, and disabled people even as he touts a rosier budget outlook.
The #Health4All coalition calls on #CAleg to REJECT these cuts; read our statement at the link in our bio.
“Families continue to share that once they see enforcement near service sites, it changes everything. Whether they seek care, go to school or even attend church.” ✊🏽
Luz Gallegos, Executive Director of TODEC Legal Center, joined LCHC in committee, calling attention to the real harm immigration enforcement causes in sensitive spaces.
Fear keeps families from seeking care. Fear keeps children from feeling safe. Fear tears at the trust our communities deserve.
📢 Senate Appropriations Committee: Stand with California communities. Vote YES on SB 1257.

VOTE YES on SB 1257 📊✊
Without clear statewide reporting, harmful federal immigration enforcement actions can continue unchecked, impacting schools, healthcare settings, and entire local economies.
SB 1257 would require anonymous statewide data reporting on immigration enforcement interactions, helping California strengthen accountability measures.
📍Senate Appropriations Committee: Californians are watching. Please support and pass SB 1257.

Thank you to Assemblymember Tasha Boerner for hosting today’s press conference on a critical Medi-Cal protection package responding to harmful federal H.R. 1 proposals.
LCHC Executive Director Dr. Seciah Aquino spoke in support of AB 2201 (Boerner) to reduce administrative burdens in Medi-Cal renewals, alongside bill authors and co-sponsors including Western Center on Law & Poverty, The Children’s Partnership, National Health Law Program, Health Access, and Justice in Aging.
We’re also grateful to Asm Bonta (AB 2161), Asm. Stefani (AB 2208), and Sen. Weber Pierson (SB 1202) & Senator Durazo (SB 1422) for advancing policies that help keep Californians covered and protect access to care. #Health4All
💪🏽Our leaders are joining advocates to demand protection for Medi-Cal!
AB2201 (ASM Tasha Boerner) is part of a package of bills authored to protect our health access in the face of H.R.1 cuts.
AB 2201 seeks to bring back strategies that we already know work to keep families covered. The bill would
âś…simplify renewals,
âś…reduce coverage losses, and
âś…ease county workloads.
Tune in to the press conference today at 10am to learn more about AB2201 and other bills in the package that will help keep California healthy: link in bio
Today, supporters of #SB1257, including LCHC, TODEC, and IC4IJ, visited Senator Cervantes’ district office in Riverside ahead of the Senate Appropriations deadline.
Thank you to Senator Cervantes’ office for taking the time to meet with advocates and discuss this critical effort to advance transparency and accountability around federal immigration enforcement activity impacting our communities. ✨
We hope to count on the support of Senate Appropriations Committee members this week to help move this important legislation forward.
