“You’ve helped me learn skills to build my future. I want to do more!” We had an idea. We talked to our partners. The idea grew. We tested it and shaped it. This idea just got real - our new Theatre Explorers programme will be supported by @youthmusicuk ’s Shift the Scene Fund. 🎉 Working with partners including @lbnyes , @newhamlondon , @hackney_shed and @sadlerswells_east , this project will transform creative employment opportunities for learning disabled and autistic young people in Newham. Co-led by our Associate Artists, we’ll build artistic skills, explore learning disabled and autistic identity, and navigate the creative industries.  Alongside this, we’ll be working closely with our brilliant partner organisations to push for more inclusive ways of making and presenting theatre, opening doors that have too often stayed closed. Let’s get started.

It’s one of 4 being built in our borough & in our @yourroyaldocks ! 🙌🏽 And this one isn’t just a construction project: it is a 150-year commitment to our borough’s future. 🏗️💻 Being built next to the historic Tate & Lyle @tateandlylesugars site in our majestic Royal Docks, we are bridging our industrial heritage with a high-tech future. This Data Centre hub will be a cornerstone of our vision for Newham, designed for low-carbon operations and future-ready AI demand. 📣 Youth Matters! Wonderful joining our @lbnyes team at the Stratford Youth Zone today alongside London’s network of dedicated youth workers to speak about the significance of the government’s @dcmsgovuk Youth Matters national youth strategy and the importance of investing in young people and youth workers. ✅ That’s what we’ve been doing here in @newhamlondon as we widen opportunity for our young people. ✅ Over the past 8 years we’ve rebuilt our universal youth services from 3 full time + 7 part-time youth workers in our borough where 38% of our residents are 24 years old or younger! ✅ Now we have 42 FTE youth workers including our detached team 🙌🏽 ➡️ Did you know: between 2010 - 2023, local spending on youth services in England fell by 73% to £1.2 billion lower now than in 2010 🤯 ➡️ In that period, more than 1,000 youth centres closed and more than 4,500 youth worker roles were lost 😭😢 ✅ Our borough-wide Youth Empowerment Service is nationally recognised by the @nationalyouthagency as first class👌🏽because we bucked a national trend & invested in our youngster’s futures. ✅ Our YES team work with local partners to deliver a raft of enriching universal youth provision to widen opportunities, including HAF for young people from low-income households. ✅ Together, we’re creating real pathways and brighter futures for Newham’s current and future youth generations.
