I wrote this movie from the deepest, messiest, most tender part of myself. It’s about family, identity, and figuring out where you belong—something I think I’ll be working on forever.
Today, I get to share the first glimpse of the official poster for Rhythm Is A Dancer, and it feels like a little piece of my heart is out in the world.

Coming home isn’t always easy — especially when you’re still figuring out who you are. Ro’s journey in RHYTHM IS A DANCER reminds us that family can take many shapes, and healing can come from the most unexpected places. It’s a story about family, identit and finding your rhythm.❤️

This felt like it needed a permapost as we get ready for Austin Film Festival next month!
My debut feature Rhythm Is a Dancer is world-premiering at @austinfilmfest this October (!!). I still can’t believe I get to type those words.
AFF has been called the Writers’ Festival for over 30 years, it’s a place where stories and storytellers are the main event. It feels like the perfect home for this messy, funny, tender little film we somehow pulled off.
It was made possible by the most generous, brilliant people: my DP @joehan (my “work husband” who somehow always knows what I mean before I say it), our fearless First AD @j_elliott_hogan who turned chaos into magic, and a cast and crew who gave this film every drop of their love.
Thank you @variety and @austinchronicle for sharing the news, and thank you @austinfilmfest for welcoming us into a community that truly celebrates the art of storytelling.

It’s taken all of 2023 for prep, production, and post, and somehow, I’m still standing! And now, that’s a wrap on post! 🤯 So grateful for every single person who made this film happen—cast, crew, and post team. Can’t wait to share it with you all. But first, a nap.
