We’re honored (and honestly still a little stunned) to share that Lao’d Bar has been named one of The New York Times’ Top 50 Restaurants in America for 2025.
To be recognized on a national stage, alongside so many incredible restaurants, is beyond anything we could have imagined when we opened our doors in April 2024. This list celebrates the flavors, stories, and communities shaping the way America eats — and we’re proud to put Lao cuisine right in the middle of that conversation. 🇱🇦🔥
Thank you to our team, our guests, and Austin for showing up for Lao’d Bar every single day. This recognition belongs to all of you.
What an honor and a privilege to be a James Beard semi-finalist for Best New Restaurant. We like to acknowledge that none of this could've happened without our hard working team that grinds day in and out. We'll continue to put in the hard work everyday to try to live up to this nomination. Thank you to all our patrons that have supported us since our opening day. This is truly a dream come true!

🏆 Best Bite at FORK + FIRE goes to Chef Bob Somsith and the team at Lao’d Bar! 🔥
Representing Austin’s @hotluckfest , their Waterfall Ribeye Steak Skewer brought the heat with bold, sweet, sour and spicy notes that had guests coming back for more all night long. Fire-kissed and packed with flavor, it was a true standout that perfectly captured the spirit of Fork + Fire. A well-deserved win for an unforgettable dish!
