This doesn’t happen often but once in a while looks come to me in a dream and I simply couldn’t ignore this one. // At the beginning all I felt was rage, which then manifested itself into despondency and fragments of apathy. My therapist tells me often the human brain craves certainty and that is something we are all forced to sever. It feels like a fever dream except this is our reality. I’ve felt and witnessed the entire spectrum of emotions in the past few weeks, definitely have had more meltdowns than I’ve wanted to admit but am slowly trying to navigate my way out of my own paralysis. Whatever your feeling right now is valid. As someone who is guilty of doing ten thousand things at once and thinking that productivity equates to my self worth. I am learning you don’t have to optimize every moment and befriend the stillness. In the age of quarantine, I hope if anything this serves as a reminder that we are much more interconnected than we think. I hope it leaves us all a lot more tender, unearthing an undeniable tenacity ultimately alchemizing the chaos. Maybe it’s the bittersweet notes of trying to savour the remainder of golden glows as we relinquish the presence of summer. However, it always seems I am living my life in extremes, oscillating at both ends of the spectrum but my own moral compass can never direct me to a happy medium. I won’t deny the moments where I’ve been dancing with profusions of magnificence but the laws of balance are as absolute as the Sun’s rotation around the earth. Admittedly, been feeling the gravity of my Saturn Return and upcoming solar return. The spaces I occupy feels cumbersome and arduous.
Growing pains they say.
Calamity takes many forms and I understand fear as a long time companion.
Rebirth isn’t glamorous.
These sentiments aren’t new to me but feel more amplified than ever. For the first time I feel the question marks hovering over me gnawing at my very existence. I’m tired of cleaning the salt off of my wounds.
I am not asking for assistance it’s more of a declaration. I keep trying to squeeze into parameters I’ve evidently outgrown. I’ve been here before and never doubted the flashes of equanimity but lately it doesn’t matter how many candles I burn because answers seem to be chimerically sprinkled.

公公 what joy meant. When I think of my trajectory it goes beyond the year of the snake, a 3 year cycle that’s fulfilled its culmination, a releasing, a resurrection and a rebirth. I’ve been thinking a lot about grief in multitudes. On a personal level the ending of my Saturn return I lost someone very dear to me, in the same year lost one of my elders and 叔叔. To grieve is to love, our past loved ones, our past selves, memories and what was. Sometime last year I was sitting with one of my kin on my balcony acknowledging to them that I had thought I lost my sparkle. Yet she said “I never thought you lost it.” And it took everything in me to not cry in that moment.
You can’t bring everything and everyone with you into the future. Perhaps, it’s not just a return to yourself but an emergence of facets that you’ve never known before. As we inaugurate the new lunar year I wish everyone in my native tongue 樂 which means joy, in whatever shape or form that means to you. And I hope you find it this year. It’s not just about momentum, acceleration, it’s a certain kind of surrendering, finding your centre amidst the noise, to be still in the wake of chaos. She may falter but you can’t kill my spirit. Here’s to the year of the double fire horse, for my ancestors, my lineage, my community, my family blood and chosen and to my younger self. 恭喜發財, 我愛你.

One of the more dark sided chapters she may have a knife but my present self now has a MFING sword but a lot more refined, jubilant, and has spine.
