International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) are the highest-credentialed lactation experts with the only internationally recognized certification in the field of lactation. They help you work through common lactation and infant feeding issues, such as first latch and weaning, milk supply and pumping — and everything in between. Whether you’re breastfeeding your first or your fifth, there is *always* wisdom to be gained from working with an IBCLC. Because let’s face it, every breastfeeding journey is unique, and having a seasoned expert by your side is invaluable. To learn more about how TLN can connect you with an insurance-covered provider, head to the link in our bio 💚

“There’s this unrealistic expectation that somehow, it’s gonna click. And that’s just not how this works. It’s a process… there’s conditioning that has to happen. This is the first time you’re going to teach your baby something and it takes time.” - @lactationnetwork

If your feeding journey ends up differently than you’d planned, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you love your child enough to pivot to the path that’s right for both of you.

Let’s bust another myth with Leah Tribus of @lactationnetwork : babies are born knowing how to breastfeed. Nope. False. In fact, babies don’t even have what we commonly call a ‘hunger reflex’ right away. Some babies might latch more quickly than others, but it’s completely normal to have to teach a baby how to eat. In most workplaces — whether that’s in an office, on the factory floor, at home, or somewhere entirely different — lactating parents have the right to pump or feed at work through the Break Time for Nursing Mothers law, an amendment to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This law requires certain employers to provide lactating parents with reasonable break time and a functional, private space to pump for one year after the baby’s birth. Know your rights, advocate for yourself, and remember, you’re not alone in this 💛

❤️‍🔥 NEW EPISODE ALERT ❤️‍🔥 We looove to bust a myth. Myth #1 that we crack wide open in our newest episode, courtesy of Leah Tribus at @lactationnetwork : all baby feeding journeys are the same. Not all women want to breastfeed. Just like not all women want to pump, or not all women want to use formula. And outside of our WANTS, sometimes our babies and their health will dictate which direction we take. The point is, knowledge is power. And being prepared before it’s actually go-time can make the difference between a happy, fulfilled feeding experience and a frustrating, disappointing one. Learn about your options and how to take control of your postpartum feeding journey at the link in our bio!
