Artist Spotlight: Shojin
Last but not least, we had to show some love to Shojin, who has been working hard behind the scenes to help curate this event and bring The Laboratory to life.
Shojin is a Vancouver based DJ and producer whose sound is rooted in drum and bass, pushing beyond subgenre boundaries and focusing on sounds built for movement. He has played festivals such as Electric Love, Altitude, and Soleita, along with notable Vancouver venues such as Red Room, Commodore Ballroom, Village Studios, and Harbour Event & Convention Centre.
With over a decade in rave culture, music has shaped Shojin’s growth, friendships, and purpose as an artist. That energy carries into every set, with a focus on movement, connection, and enjoying the moment together.

Our very own LABWRK is holding it down for this one, both on the lineup and behind the scenes helping bring The Laboratory to life.
She’s had a massive year making noise all around the city, bringing her deep love for bass music through bass house, deep dubstep, UK garage, grime, breaks, and more.
With heavy low end, high energy, and a flow that keeps the room moving, LABWRK has been making her mark at venues like Red Room, Bassterdam, Fortune Sound Club, Harbour Theatre, and more.
She has supported names such as TRUTH, redrooms, Vanic, Nina (UK), and Youngsta, with recent highlights including a killer opening set for Father Funk and Dirt Monkey and a closing set at Altitude Music Festival 2025. With a handful of festivals lined up this summer, LABWRK is showing no signs of slowing down.

Captivate is a producer and DJ based on the ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. His sound drifts through the UK rave, Jamaican dub, and ambient continuums, often refracted through the lens of leftfield techno. His DJ sets dissolve genre boundaries, prioritizing pressure, narrative, and rhythmic exploration. He has performed at festivals including Bass Coast and Shambhala Music Festival, and his music has received longstanding support from influences including Om Unit, Doctor Jeep, and Mia Koden.
Mad scientist and producer, LABWRK has been taking Vancouver’s bass scene by storm. A true vibe selecta, bringing original, heavy basslines and melodies that vibrate through the mind and soul. She brings an uplifting energy to the dance floor and a journey through sound.

Made up of DJ BEER, LOUP, and Steph Tsunami, LVL is Vancouver’s queer femme bass supergroup bringing serious energy to the dancefloor.
Known for their dynamic sets and high energy sound, LVL moves through breaks, 140, techno, jungle, and drum & bass with the kind of pace and presence that keeps the dancefloor locked in from start to finish. Expect fast blends, big energy, and plenty of fun.
They have played some of BC’s biggest stages including Red Room, Celebrities, and Capital Ballroom, while supporting artists such as Andy C, Sam Binga, Gentlemen’s Club, Canabliss, Delta Heavy, and the WORSHIP tour.
