Yesterday, at the @aia_la spot in West Adams, the next phase of the Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative launched. @citylabucla and @genesisla_cdfi released a Request for Information (RFI). The RFI process will select development teams to acquire private parcels of land and build up to three Missing Middle homeownership projects in the City of LA. We’re excited to see the next phase of the work. And thank you to @bmo_us for providing the funding to launch this initiative.

As part of the ongoing Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative, cityLAB-UCLA and Genesis LA are excited to announce a new opportunity to build Missing Middle homeownership projects on small parcels of privately owned land. Distinct from cityLAB, LA4LA, and the City of Los Angeles’ existing public land development program, this new offering expands the initiative to incentivize housing development on privately held small lots across the city. On May 7th, cityLAB-UCLA and Genesis-LA will release a Request for Information (RFI) to select development teams to acquire private parcels of land and build up to three Missing Middle homeownership projects in the City of Los Angeles. Through the RFI process, selected development teams will receive a robust financing package covering up to 95% of total development costs, including land acquisition, predevelopment, and construction. Los Angeles has tens of thousands of privately owned parcels of land tailored made for missing middle housing, and this initiative aims to show how these parcels can be converted into high-quality, impactful homeownership projects. Please join us at the RFI launch event at the AIA-LA headquarters on May 7th to learn more about this exciting new part of the Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative - link in bio.

Recent research shows that modular and prefab housing can reduce the overall completion time of a new residence by more than 50%, with some options completed in weeks rather than the months traditional construction requires. As wildfire impacted communities rebuild, prefab and modular options both cost-effective and built with materials that are both sustainable and resilient. This is important for fire survivors, and also key in the broader pursuit of solving the housing crisis. Featured vendors included AMEG with New Economics for Women, Villa, Azure, Conex Modular, Liv Connected, and Sola/Model Z. Thank you to the @wellsfargo @calfund and @thewonderfulcompany for sponsoring this effort. Thank you to @citylabucla @community_women_vital_voices @supervisorkathrynbarger @core_cal RnLA and ARRC for helping bring this to the community.
