Mert Seger brings to our senses a two steps ritual for this debut on Kump. « Yétèkpãnra », freely inspired by the funeral rites of the Batãmmariba of Togo and Benin depicted by Dominique Sewane, runs along with no clear beginning nor any end, a sound sketch where the shapeless rustle from the depths of the night meets a procession of artefacts. In this space where the dead finds his way, time lost its importance and the whole piece can go on repeat, endlessly, a prayer wheel to guide whom can only keep his own shadow among the shadows of the other side. When « Gault » pummels big beat remains against an industrial frame, « Clag » vibrates from breaks resonating of voices and echoes. One hits, the other flees, both extend in twin yet singular artifacts. The track « Noma » comes at last as an attempt to bind both sides in this narrow place in between two dark spaces. A Strange Wedding re-imagines this bridge as an aerial cyberpunk movie sequence whereas Odopt sharpens its angles. Developped as an experimental exploration rather than a narrative, this object called « R.S.F » is a recollection of intriguing sonic pictures. Tracks neither really start nor they finish, pieces of an apparently unreasolvable puzzle like pages of a fantastic bestiary long forgotten. It's also about form variations, a wide stylictic range, where exploration means impulsion as well as perspective, in accordance with the Meth.O.Tapes collective's motto. Each sonic creature evokes distant fragments, sometimes mejestic, or terrible, or even naïve, more or less mystical, rooted in nature, rather dreamlike than exotic, always mezmerizing. This is indeed a curious musical object we have here, a poetic object as wanted by the crew, and object it is as a tape or luxury boxset, meaningfull Pandora's box with thousands mysteries."
