That time of year when I drive in circles around the mountains—the Bay —> Yosemite —> Bishop —> Yosemite etc. Hopefully I’ll get somewhere, but in the meantime, some outtakes: Iron Resolution (V12/13), moves & links, outputs & inputs 📻📶 Vid 1: @jun.__.ueda — first bloc at the Joshua Tree Rock Rumble, thanks for having me! Bügeleisen (V14) from an October mini trip to Maltatal with Aidan I’ve been enamored with Bügeleisen for a while — Klem’s FA in 2001 feels ahead of its time, not just for the difficulty but also the quality, and also I’m obsessed with the name. It’s a style I think I’m pretty good at, which brings its own weird challenges. It’s easy to fall into the trap of chasing the moving target of my own expectations and climb defensively, as though I have something to lose. In the end, I was happy to do both Bügeleisen and Hide & Sick (V14) somewhat arbitrarily in the same day. After a summer of training in the gym, it was a nice reminder that it’s always good to be out there bugelizing. @patagonia_climb @lasportivana @frictionlabs

Katie Lamb has been cutting her teeth on a steady diet of some of the country’s hardest boulders. When she became the first woman to climb V16, she was surprised by the spotlight that came with that breakthrough and the ensuing online drama after the problem was downgraded. Today, Katie has climbed V16 again and her motivation has never been more in focus. Listen to @alexhonnold and @ktlambies on Spotify or wherever you find your podcasts. @ktlambies makes history on The Dark Side (V16) – Yosemite’s hardest boulder. Third ascent. First female ascent of an 8C+ boulder. A defining moment for climbing. «It’s easy to treat friction as passive resistance—something you’re at the mercy of. But I learned to reframe it: friction is something to sit with, to engage with, to ask for help in understanding.» Months of effort. Movements ingrained in muscle memory. A connection with the rock so deep, it lingers even in thought. This is how breakthroughs happen - through patience, focus, and redefining what’s possible. #lasportiva #weareclimbers

The Dark Side (V16) It’s easy to fall into the trap of treating friction on this boulder like passive resistance - a force that each scaler is at the whim of. But I learned to reshape this narrative: friction is something to sit with, to actively attend to, and to ask for help in understanding. Despite everything in this world that is built to minimize friction, there are moments of stickiness for a scaler. And in these high stakes times, when it becomes clear all the ways we could have been more ready, the most important thing is to just show up to the session. 📸 @ericbissell

The Rookery (V14) I was sure I would do this boulder last season. But I didn’t, and had to come back at the end of 2024. The first move was hard for me (and easy for others). I’m in a similar place now to where I was last year with The Rookery - still in Yosemite, only a different bloc. Despite feeling over it with my current project, I do think that good scaling is done slowly - it’s not a convenient, packaged experience. It’s cold and wet and tedious and often lonely. It’s at odds with its very hype online representation. So yeah, The Rookery took me many sessions and was harder for me than the grade reflects. You don’t always need to rook by the book yall 👩🏻‍🍳 Filmed & cut by @ericbissell & thanks to @patagonia_climb for making this footage possible 🫶. More clips of this 🔜

Outtakes from Fairhead, Northern Ireland - an absolute corker of a trip 🦭 It was such a privilege to be toured around by the locals here, and I hope that in turn, the fresh eyes of us visitors were a reminder of just how special this cliff side is. Our little group really had a rare, effortless dynamic 👯. We’re blessed with a two part series from @wedge_climbing which captures the vibe of a trip that was so heartfelt and adventurous, give it a watch! 1. The Gentleman’s Arete 😮‍💨 2. My first and last ever coordination move 3. Post send of Glen & Bob Ross with KT & @dillonmclaughlin06 aka Bob Ross 5. Topping out “Work Away Sit”, put up by me and Dillon and which Dillon says is the first cool 7C+ ever😳 4. Bouldering is a team sport. 🔝out yer blocs folks 5. 😮 6. Contemplative beach moment 7. Across the pond, 2 months later ☺️ First pic by @simoore , film pics by @keenantakahashi @lasportivana @patagonia_climb @frictionlabs

I had a nice couple of weeks scaling in Tahoe at the start of fall — finishing some early season “stepping stone” projects and grappling with the feeling I get in Tahoe of being a bit lost (both physically and emotionally). One night I was alone at this boulder under a clear sky, feeling sentimental about 8 years living in California. It was a sweet moment to reflect on how it’s always the people that make a place feel familiar 😌 Echo Chamber (V14) 🎥 @keenantakahashi @patagonia_climb @lasportivana @frictionlabs @organicclimbing

Equanimity (V15) This journey was almost entirely a mental challenge, which feels emblematic of a broader narrative in my recent scaling. I’ve been on a skill building mission to try and make this low angle tech style a strength. The crux for me was the process of losing trust and then building back to a point of tenuous belief… whatever that might mean to each scaler. In the end, I found my equanimous mind 💆🏻‍♀️ @keenantakahashi and I did it on the same day, which almost never happens lol 👯
