@thetrailnetworkpod is finally here!!! š£
I am over the moon to announce a new pod with @rachelraedrake@leah_yingling@thehilaryann
There are countless stories from the trail and beyond that we are excited to bring to light. Specifically- āhead to headā recaps from trail runners battling for the win, or conversations with trail partners- in business and in life. We will share the good, bad, and the beautiful. And maybe some ugly. But we learn the most from the ugly, right?
We are excited to bring you along our journey from the beginning. We know this will morph as time goes on- but we have a clear goal:
To bring stories of runners on and off the trail that capture the spirit of trailrunning and the power of friendship and connection.
Proudly produced by @sandyboyproductions and sponsored by @ospreypacks š
Follow us at @thetrailnetworkpod for new releases and DM us any and all pod ideas! We want to hear from you!
We hope you add our pod to your rotation- (oh yeah- give it 5 stars and share with everyone you know! Iām supposed to say that right?;)

Well that was a dream @wser š«
Yesterday was a special one for the memory books. It was everything I love about racing.
We glissaded. We climbed. We worked together. We charged. We hunted.
Pacing yourself in any 100miler is an art- but against some of the best in the world was a privilege.
And hot daaaamn that womens pack! Much of the day F3-F8 were racing together. Were we racing each other to implosion for the chase pack to close? Deciding when to conserve vs when to surge kept the day SPICY! š¶š„
Closest womens race in history, finishing with fastest top ten women in 50yrs of Western States. And pretty special to have CR fall in untouchable fashion. @courtneydauwalter you are in another leagueš
Yesterday was hands down the most FUN Iāve ever had racing. I ran with everyone I knew throughout the day. I didnāt take one step for granted. I was SO HAPPY to be there!! I took calculated risks, constant check ins w mind and body, and was lifted by the energy of the crowds and my team.
I soaked it ALL up.
F4 in 17:21, over 1hr off my F5 time in 2021, over 2hrs from F9 last year. Top 6th female time ever š®
There will be good days, there will tough days. None of them define you- but they will change you.
Over here enjoying the rideš¢
I know these days racing at Western States wonāt last forever. I raced yesterday as if it were my lastā¦
And Iām freakin pumped that this time it wonāt beš
See you at Placer HS next June š¤š½š„
šø @thehilaryann šš½š
Jumped into the 20miler at @bishophsultras last minute & it did not disappoint! š
I didnāt know how much gas I would have in the tank with life lately- but was able to move pretty well and stoked with my effort. 1st Overall šš„³ (Iāve been 2nd OA & 3rd OA in other races in my past- but first time winning outright which is fun!)
Perfect training day & community vibes were strong! @timtollefson@morgan.tuohy@acsturgi , @graham_seth ,Alex & a mid race squeeze from @itschloeemschulman@ca_wildflower & @carrie_inthewild ā¤ļøāš„ What an awesome bunch of humans.
If you are Eastern Sierra curious- this is a super chill fun race (20mi, 53k, 50mi, 100k) and all proceeds go to @inyosar & Eastern Sierra Youth Outdoor Program @_sierra_forever_ .
*** Also note top runners get entry to @mammothtrailfest AND there is a @tordesgeants partnership where two lucky 100k finishers can bypass the Tor lottery and gain direct entry šš±***
Thank you to @tovog and all organizers & volunteers for putting on another rad event!

Soul run FTW! š
As you can imagine- training has taken quite a hit the last couple of weeks. For the first time in my life- I was forcing runs to get in training instead of running with joy (dexcom alerts going off repeatedly in runs not fun š). I didnāt want to lose fitness- but nervous system was screaming STOP.
So I did.
š„ And now finally coming up for air! š„
I have big goals this summer. I donāt want them to slip away. But I am giving myself grace that our new life has changed priorities- and thatās ok. Oh the ebb and flow of life stress š
But joy runs are back in action! ā”ļø
As always⦠never taking a step for granted.
Shoutout to coach @mountainroche for being super flexible and my #1 cheerleader ā”ļø for training log :)

THANK YOU for the overwhelming love and support after sharing about our 11yoās recent type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Gosh ā the texts, the private DMs from people with T1D, and from friends/family of loved ones with T1D⦠I feel so held by this community of beautiful humans š«¶š„¹
Everyone says āit gets better.ā Iām trusting yāall! š
Not gonna lie ā itās been a JOURNEY, folks. This has completely flipped our world upside down. But day by day, weāre finding a routine ⦠aaaand itās still really, really hard.
And maybe ā dare I say it ā Iām trusting the process a (tiny) bit more.
Real talk:
Last weekend our 9yo had surgery⦠a surgery weād already planned for (but the timing omg š±). So another 12 hours of driving to and from the city while Pete stayed back in Mammoth with Noa. While Pete set alarms all night to check glucose, give jelly beans, or insulin⦠I was setting alarms every 2 hours for Motrin or Tylenol post-op for Liam.
(I know⦠what a two weeks for the Asmuths š« )
BUT SOMETHING CHANGED.
I leaned in for help.
My family is my backbone, and theyāve walked through ALL of life with me. It was SO healing to be together.
I sought out joy and looked for the wins.
Lordy, those tacos were bomb. The sand in our toes.
When Noa & my sisterās (also w T1D) sugar was 109 at 1:09pmš¤Æ
Breakfast in bed on Motherās Day (yes I cried).
I took rest days from running and most other responsibilities to be present with Liam.
And woah ā my nervous system needed that reset.
(and woah am I aware how privileged I am to have the ability to have resetā¦)
Now back to glorious weather in Mammoth-
feeling a *little* lighter with a fuller tank ā½ļø
One of the many lessons learned- when in crisisā¦
Look for wins (anything! Even if itās a āwow- the sun actually came up! ā moment ha)
The mantra āday by dayā just might be the ticket š¤

One week ago today, our world turned upside down.
Noa, our 11-year-old, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
He had subtle symptoms- peeing more, drinking more⦠and since my sister has type 1 diabetes- we happened to have a glucometer at home.
The āhighā on the meter was that ābeforeā and āafterā moment. Like a pregnancy test⦠but without 9 months to prepare for the life change.
In an instant our world shifted.
Shifting between confidence and confusion.
Trying to find our footing in something that feels so big- his 11yo independent, carefree life forever different.
Thereās a lot of emotions as you can imagine. Still not sure how much Iām going to share on this platform.
Right now we are in the thick of it⦠AND- we will eventually settle into this new rhythm.
The knowing that there will be very hard days ahead is tough to swallow. Itās been quite the rollercoaster- with a lot of learnings already.
Life is wild like that- throws you curveballs while you hope youāve had the life experience to be able to step up to the plate.
I am SO proud of Noaāhis strength, his resilience, his curiosity. Our community of family and friends, coaches and teachers⦠everyone has been SO supportive. We are growing in this journey together.
Trying. Gosh- we are really trying.
Trying to stay level headed/neutral with the glucose numbers (data we react to⦠vs eliciting an emotion)
Trying to predict meals, count carbs, pre-bolus insulin⦠stay ahead (but avoid the lowā¦)
Trying to let Noa live a full, beautiful, and⦠safe life.
Feels like a bit of a guessing game- more art than science. And knowing we will never fully have it figured out is tough for this problem solver momā¦
To anyone else navigating something heavy right nowā
I see you! Weāll get through it- and a new normal will settle in.
day by day š¤ we got this
#type1diabetes #strongkiddo #wecandohardthings
We did it!! Garage makeover - into a gym and hockey shooting pad š„
We are all SO STOKED (+ the neighborhood kids;)
Just in time for another snow stormā¦
and uphill treadmill sessions to a new level š
(Scroll for the before pic š«£š±ā¦ or donāt lol itās embarrassing ha)
When the underdogs WIN!! š
These kids in our small mountain town of Mammoth Lakes are CRUSHING. Pretty special to witness what this community is building.
The U10 Hockey team defied all odds and WON THE CALIFORNIA STATE TITLE!! WHAAAAT?! š¤Æ
And against the BIG cities!! San Diego, Anaheim, Riverside, Pasadena, Los Angeles, San Jose etc etc-
Wild part?
⢠only year 2 of a youth travel hockey program
⢠no tryouts (everyone who wants in, is in)
⢠100% volunteer-run (by parents ā¤ļø)
And Mammoth has only had an indoor rink for 3 years!
A bunch of badass kids, coaches, and families all in on something bigger than themselves. SO COOL.
AAAAAAND in the same weekendā¦. ššš
Mammoth Mountain Ski Team FINALLY beat Palisades (and all the other Tahoe resorts) at the Far West Ski Champs for U10 for the overall season!! First time ever I think (at least in over a decade)? And two Mammoth kids- Liam and Sophia won the overall Richmond Cup for the championships for 3 different disciplines. (Note his lucky shredded āgreen machineā speedsuit that he LOVES ha)
(Needless to say⦠Asmuth kids might be peaking in life and we need them to slow down š all we care about is they try their best, elevate their teammates, and enjoy the journey⦠but to actually win it also pretty damn fun ha)
An epic weekend for Mammoth and too good not to share on the gram;)

45 seconds of post Tarawera 100k fun.
