The artistās new series lending title to the exhibition is a series of formal compositions that engage the visual codes of nationality while critically reinterpreting them. The starting point is the flag, as one of the most recognizable symbols of unity, identity and political belonging.
In Barlikās work, such order becomes destabilized ā colors that are assigned to certain countries or places become re-ordered, deconstructured, and reconfigured, creating visual marks, or speculative emblems, for countries that have never existed

š¹ āDamask Rose: A Gathering, Behind the Scenesā holds more than a journey of making; it is an offering. The video āWeaving Through Unrestā follows Bahar Behbahaniās mother, Shamsy, and a circle of women who gathered not only to crochet but to share, to give form to a collective imagining: a pink Persian garden of Damask roses.
