~ Archaeological Records è lieta di ospitare l'artista John Knuth nella mostra collettiva BESTIARIO LUCRETILE, che si terrà il prossimo Ottobre al MusAq di Civitella di Licenza, e per la quale ritrarrà la mosca comune.
"I miei primi dipinti mi hanno davvero ispirato nel momento in cui mi sono reso conto che stavo facendo fare alle mosche qualcosa al di fuori della loro natura. Le mosche sono insetti non sociali. Gli insetti sociali sono formiche e api che lavorano insieme per la propria sopravvivenza. Ben presto sono passato a dar loro da mangiare la vernice e ho fatto loro fare qualcosa di veramente fuori dalla loro natura. Simile alla città di Los Angeles. Se metti un milione di persone o un milione di mosche in uno spazio ristretto qualcosa di trascendentale accade."
La pratica artistica di John Knuth prevede l'utilizzo di materiali non convenzionali come mosche, serpenti e coperte termiche di sopravvivenza per creare opere d'arte che esplorano i temi del survivalismo e del minimalismo. Il suo mezzo principale include zucchero, vernice acrilica e vari elementi naturali.

"The early paintings were really inspiring to me in the way that I realized I was making the flies do something outside of their nature. Flies are non-social insects. Social insects are ants and bees where they work together for their own survival. I soon moved onto feeding them paint and made them do something truly outside their nature. Similar to the city of Los Angeles. If you put a million people or a million flies in a tight space something transcendent happens."
John Knuth's artistic practice involves using unconventional materials such as flies, snakes, and thermal survival blankets to create works of art that explore themes of survivalism and minimalism. His primary medium includes sugar, acrylic paint and various natural elements.

Des Artistes is pleased to announce our first artist panel, featuring the art historian Amy Lyford in conversation with Kelly Akashi, Eddie Rodolfo Aparicio, Brad Eberhard, John Knuth, Ana Medina, and Camilla Taylor.
The conversation will focus on the artists’s lives and works in the aftermath of the Eaton fire, as an altered reality unfolds.
Post-Fire 1 is the first installment of an annual group show, planned for the next four years at 6006 Washington Blvd in Culver City. All proceeds from sales go directly to the artists.
