Kinning Park Complex: 30 Years of Community programme is now live!! ๐๐
30 years ago our building was threatened with closure by the council until a group of young women and mothers stood up and demanded it be put into community hands. They occupied the building 24/7 for 55 days straight, leading to a victorious community buyout.
We are celebrating this incredible piece of Glaswegian activist history with 55 days of action, events, heritage, and celebration - and the programme is now live!
From crafting to history walks, sports activities to film screenings, there is something for everyone.
Join us, celebrate community, and be part of the story.

Kinning Park Complex is heavy-hearted to hear about the passing of local community member John Anderson.
John volunteered for many, many years at our community meals and other activities. He was always there to lend a hand and make sure everyone had their cup of tea.
Our condolences to his family and friends at this time.

Every Saturday in May, 2-4pm: Tell us your KPC story! ๐ฃ๏ธ
Over the last 30 years, Kinning Park Complex has been supported, loved, and used by a diverse community of people. As part of our 30th anniversary project we want to capture some of the wonderful stories that make up this history - and weโre asking you to come and share with us!
Browse our exhibition of photos and banners from KPCโs past, and tell our oral history volunteers your stories and memories of KPC and the local neighbourhood. Whether you remember the sit-in, had a studio here, attended an event, or went to school in the building, we want to know it all ๐ฉท
Your contributions will be added to @communitylandscotland living archive of community ownership, helping future generations learn about what makes KPC what it is - community.
Thank you to @ourstory_scotland for training our wonderful volunteers!

Southside SOUP #4 went down a storm! Our biggest turnout yet.
Congrats to @house.on.legs for taking home the ยฃ200, and to @mindanddraw and @nomadalba for also presenting!
It was great to have @pramjamglasgow back to tell us what theyโd been up to since the last event, and lead a lovely singalong (scroll to end).
Thanks to @musedlindsey and @weansscrankitchin for making the soup, and @kinningparkcomplex for having us.
Finally, thanks to everyone in the audience for showing up. Weโll be back after summer - keep an eye out for more info.
