As co-founder of the intrepid Club Felinas, that’s been keeping the floor lit with Latin heat from Bogota to Europe. LEA LUCIFER @bbx_lea will bring her bass-heavy, rhythm-grounding expertise to the Play Pit floor, creating something both atmospheric and visionary. There’s tension in the sound, but also a quiet sense that she knows exactly what she’s doing with it. KILLA Lecken resident @killadujour digs comfortably in the stranger corners of club music—groovy techno, experimental electronics and the kind of B-sides that make other DJs ask, “wait, what was that?” Since landing in Berlin in 2010, she’s built a reputation for meticulous programming and a firm refusal to chase trends. KILLA is a French vinyl-only DJ whose sets are as eclectic as the crates she digs in. She has earned a reputation for the uncompromising musical integrity of her selections - frequently served with a dash of diva “je ne sais quoi”. She is a founding member and resident DJ of the queer-feminist collective 'Lecken' and co- organizes events on the Killasan sound system since 2014. KILLA's club selections, laden with groovy Techno and Breaks, are tailored for sweaty dance-floors but her bi-monthly radio residency on 'Refuge Worldwide' allows her to curate deeper, more personal music. 🌊🌊𝑳𝑬𝑪𝑲𝑬𝑵 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒂🌊🌊 There are times when we are engulfed by what could be called a “swerve of passion”: a sudden surge of passion that disrupts our normal existential rhythm, jolts us out of complacency, and transports us into a less organized state of being. Such experiences make us feel as if we were lifted above the mundane. We let ourselves be transported “beyond thinking.” Rather than evaluating the conversation we are having, we simply converse. Rather than dissecting the erotic encounter we are enjoying, we simply enjoy. During such moments, we become so spellbound by the world’s offerings that the normal distinction between self and other becomes permeable. Listening to the swerve of passions is one way to ensure that we do not fall pray to the repetition compulsion of our cultural order. There is something inherently countercultural about passion. @whole.festival , lezzz go! We’re honoured to be joining the mother of all queer bacchanals for a 5th time. Last year was an epic and memorable mayhem (as documented on the @douchestation podcast), which culminated with this pink-boot cherry on top. Legend has it she crowd surfed all across the Arena stage. This year, find us doing our mischief at the Forest stage on Saturday morning 6-11 AM, featuring all our 3 musketeers: KILLA, Skankstasy, and Carmen 16. Also don’t sleep on @wandagaimes ’ TALKS program featuring a timely discussion on chemsex and a poetry panel. Our dear friends are also stirring their juices into this year’s broth. The mixed gender play house DTF is back (have a listen to “Darkroom Discourse,” their excellent talk from last year on inclusive dark rooms via WHOLE Soundcloud). Our favourite performance collective, @wideopen.berlin , will be hosting their peep-show tent of absurdity again. While @gayconsentlab will be facilitating their signature consciousness raising circle. Keep an eye out also for @nnc.nd ’s uplifting and soul-moving Dabke workshop on Sunday lunchtime at Arena (whose appearance on the valiant panel “Innocent until Proven Muslim” from last year can also be revisited via WHOLE SC) and don’t forget your ACAB / keffiyeh paraphernalia at home. After all, we’re going to be a thorn in the German country side. Cooking up a bespoke set for the @menschmeier family reunions always feels so special — there are campy, genre-bending narratives that can only work within their wild walls.
