From 1999 - 2024, we chart the journey of Kevan Hall’s abalone sequin dress for Halston, Fall 1999.
Hall took the helm of the iconic American brand in 1998 and produced several successful collections before exiting the company to start his own eponymous brand in 2001.
With a resurgence of interest in 90s and early 2000s archival collections, Hall’s preserved designs are making their way back to the red carpet.

Red carpet darling and former creative director at Halston, fashion designer Kevan Hall has been setting the runways on fire for 40 years. His couture collection caught my eye in ’88 when I was buying for a Beverly Hills boutique and his charm made us friends for life.

I’m officially a Costume Designer! My first television credit is on The Bold and the Beautiful, now airing on CBS.
Brought on in the show’s 39th season, I’ve helped reshape the fashion identity of its iconic characters—modernizing wardrobes, refreshing color palettes, and deepening the visual storytelling of one of television’s longest-running series.
This moment is built on a lifetime of work from launching Kevan Hall Company to designing for Halston and Hollywood’s leading ladies.
Now my work has found its way to international screens.
I’m grateful to Costume Designers Guild Terry Gordon, Cate Adair, and Antoinette Messam for the warm welcome—and excited to learn from long-time friends and trailblazers Ruth Carter and Paul Tazewell.
