If you are a fan of the films of The Letter, this wonderful novel The House of Doors by @tan.twan.eng is a must read. It’s a smart imagining of Somerset Maugham in Malaysia where he hears the story of the murder. All told from a woman’s point of view. It’s a romantic postscript after reading Jane Gardam’s Old Filth trilogy.
Thrilled to interview Gigi Perreau, star of Douglas Sirk’s There’s Always Tomorrow @tcm FF! Starting at the age of 2, she played the daughter of so many of your favorite stars. Such a warm delightful woman, I could have talked to her for hours. Another reason to love @tcm !
Had the best time introducing Out of the Past with my pals @bbunny1940 and @eddie_muller8591@tcmfilmfest . Come see me on Saturday when I introduce There’s Always Tomorrow with star Gigi Perreau @chinesetheatres 4pm. My favorite weekend of the year! @tcm
I first saw Mary Beth Hurt in Crimes of the Heart on Broadway and was blown away by her performance. Heart and Midwestern Steel. In Chilly Scenes of Winter, she was in command beyond her years. Totally unique. Finally got to meet and work with her in Light Sleeper. Still in awe of her singular sharp wry talent. An artist. May she rest in a deserved peace. Thinking of Paul.
I was visiting the set the day this scene was shot in The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper. Bob and Treat had a knock down fist-a-cuffs over some now forgotten slight. Perhaps a punch that felt too real or some false moment. Bob was incapable of not telling the truth in his work. Not just an actor’s actor, but an actor’s North Star. 🖤
The magnificent Marilyn Maye last night @54below . Just enjoy the ride in 2026. At 97 years old, Marilyn knows what’s important.
Thank you Tim Moran for sharing!
I bought this book after reading Jane Gardam’s obituary. What a beautiful surprise! A writer I didn’t know, writing about a world I didn’t know. A bit of Dickens, Kipling and Maugham. But always Jane. Delighted to find out it’s the first in a trilogy. So just ordered The Man in the Wooden Hat and Last Friends. Highly recommend.
