Throwback to #1998 and the title sequence to Paul McGuigan’s #theacidhouse featuring the track insect royalty by @primalscreamofficial after #Trainspotting this was my second brush with #irvinewelsh the film is a trilogy of short stories - each story has a colour and a shape the main title is all of them together. These were art straws shot on 16mm and composited in flame, a nod to chemical structure diagrams. Design @dylankendle and @lukependrell Give @ultraoblique a follow for archive and new title design.

A long time ago when the graphic design world was having a collective hernia about the london 2012 identity @barnbrookstudio and the late and much loved #vaughnoliver had an exhibition by industry bods at @lethabygallery@kedge27 and I submitted these pieces, in them we imagined tongue in cheek origin stories of the athletes whose determination and pursuit of victory was evident from such an early age. In them Tom Daley chased the feeling of water on his toes, Zara Philips held onto her brothers ears for dear life, and Victoria Pendleton’s dedication kept her away from the misadventures of the bike shed. All of them came through and delivered the goods - it’s just a shame for us we didn’t run an accumulator.
From the archive circa 2000 a distribution company ident. Article 27 was named after the article in the human rights declaration citing the right to cultural expression, set high ambitions to put great content in front of the right audience regardless of financial incentive, or rather in spite of the lack of it, largely underpinned by innovative software and hardware solutions that were a precursor to today’s streaming platforms this was a forward thinking move with people not profit at its heart. The execution exposed the beautiful detritus of cinema turning the negative into a positive, shot on super 16 and created with ink and hair gel in the gate of a £1million telecine it was both in camera and cameraless photography. In very short succession the company was acquired and asset stripped for its innovative tech, a lesson for me on unscrupulous capitalism and a sad loss to the intended audiences who never really got to benefit from its value. #incameratechniques 16mm shot by @mattybroad refine by the sorry missed #daveludlam I can’t recall who did the sound, maybe james @ jungle?
