SO PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THIS!! On September 12 𝕃𝕦𝕔𝕚𝕗𝕖𝕣 ℍ𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕖𝕕 𝕎𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕟, a 4 song EP written & performed by me & Exene Cervenka, will finally be birthed into this world.
This project started back in 2019 when Exene gave me access to five giant tubs of her poetry/lyrics and said "go for it". Yes, that's right, one of my favorite lyricists in the world gave me unlimited access to their poetry and entrusted me to craft some great songs out of it. The songs came relatively quickly, but then I was diagnosed with cysts in my vocal cords, a pandemic hit the world, and blah blah blah- it got shelved and never recorded! UNTIL!!! About 2 years ago when we convinced the very talented @davidjcarpentermusic to build a lil home studio at Exene's and produce these songs. We were also given percussion & drums from X's own DJ Bonebrake as well as additional guitar on a track from @eliastita . And then, because he's amazing and we could dream of no one better, we asked @bradwood_producifer to mix it for us. So big thank you to all those guys as well as Mike Rouse who's helped us with all the logistics of getting this baby out there and printing the vinyl. And to Peyton!!! Who figured out the layout and design for me & Exene's art. Aka she made it actually fit on a record and look good!
I love these songs so freaking much. This is a very different project than anything I've ever made before and I love every single moment captured. I love how DIY and alive every song feels. Exene's words are so powerful and packed such an emotional punch long before I got involved (by the way some of the words we used Exene wrote back in the early 80s!) The lyrics I contributed are some of my favorites I've ever written. I love singing with Exene. I love creating with her. She's changed my life in a million ways, all for the better and shaped me to become the artist I am today. I am so proud to get to finally put this in the world with her. And I can't wait for you all to listen.
FYI! We pressed 300 of these babies on vinyl and they will be for sale at future Skating Polly & @xthebandofficial shows ♥️♥️♥️♥️

We did it!!!! First ever marathon completed!!!! ✅✅✅ had to backtrack a lil so we could give our amazing bestie @mxmstrh a big ol hug and take a selfie with him for cheering us on. Also big shoutout to @lisatita for guiding us through our first marathon, inspiring us to do it, and making the experience so sweet. And shoutout to Peyton for being the best friend/sister/roomie I could ever ask for and picking us up and bringing us goodies. And big HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who donated to @padiaware so I could DOUBLE my fundraising goal 🥲 Ive got a lot of thank you postcards to send.
