This Earth Day, skip the infographic. Log a dive instead.
Three PADI AWARE citizen science platforms are live right now — and each one turns what you already do underwater into data that protects the ocean.
🦈 **Global Shark & Ray Census** — track the species most at risk
🐠 **Biodiversity Survey** — monitor reef health through key species
🌊 **Dive Against Debris** — document and remove marine debris
You don’t need a science degree. You need a logbook and the next dive on your calendar.
Comment **DIVE** and we’ll send you everything you need to start.
Every dive is a survey dive. 🌊

🪸How many more coral colonies have yet to be discovered?
Have you heard about the fairy-tale discovery made by the mother-daughter scuba duo in Australia? The pair was supporting The Great Reef Census when they experienced something they couldn’t have ever imagined. Inside this hopeful story for the future of our blue planet is the power of citizen science. 💪
Feast your eyes on their amazing discovery in the video, 🔗in bio.
Yes–your actions make an impact!
PADI AWARE is launching our Global Shark & Ray Census this year. Maybe you’ll make a shark discovery of your own!

These are some of the most frequently asked questions from our interns before starting their internship with us 🌊🤿
We know that taking the step to join a marine biology internship abroad can feel exciting — and a little overwhelming — so we always encourage future interns to ask us everything they want to know. From dive training and fieldwork to daily life in Tenerife, no question is too small.
One of the most common concerns?
You do NOT need a scuba diving certification to apply.
You also do NOT need to be currently enrolled in university.
What you truly need is curiosity, motivation, and a genuine desire to learn. If you love the ocean, want to grow your skills, and are ready to challenge yourself both in and out of the water, this program is for you.
During the internship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in different dive formats, participate in scientific underwater sampling, and progressively build your underwater skills through guided dives and structured training. You won’t be doing this alone — a professional marine biologist supports and mentors students both underwater and on land, helping you develop scientifically, technically, and personally 🌊.
If you have other questions, send them to us! We’re happy to answer and help you understand if this experience is the right fit for you.

🌊🔬 PADI AWARE Microplastics Day in Action!
At Swartvlei Beach, we worked with 272 school children from Suid-Kaap Landsdiens to uncover a hidden threat in our oceans.
From sand sample collection, to using a density separator, to viewing real microplastics under microscopes — these young ocean protectors got hands-on with real science and real impact.
Education is the first step to conservation. 💙🌍

1 year of Shark Facts Friday! 🎊
A year ago, I started sharing interesting shark facts every Friday. I’m proud I never missed a week, even when life got tough or busy.
While I might not post every Friday anymore, I’ll still share more shark facts because 1. there are just too many cool ones to keep to myself but also 2. I’m so passionate about these incredible creatures and sharing my knowledge. Thanks for being part of this journey! 🩵

Weeknd plans = floating into seal central 🦭🌅🤿
Snorkelling at Pope’s Eye in Port Phillip Bay is always a reminder of how lucky we are. The seals are curious, playful, and full of personality — zooming through bubbles and sometimes getting just as interested in us as we are in them!
But as adorable as they are, they’re wild animals. We’re visitors in their ocean home 🌊 Respecting wildlife ensures these magical encounters can continue for years to come
Huge thank you to Gerald and the crew at Power of 2 for a brilliant evening out on our beautiful bay 🙌✨
