End-of-Life Care Zines by brief. The End-of-Life Care Zines are analogue, experiential translations of our mini exploration into end-of-life and elderly care within Singapore’s heartlands. Across three chapters, these zines contemplate the often-overlooked intersections between caregiving, space, and dignity, from the invisible role of domestic helpers in end-of-life care, to the community hubs and everyday mobility aids (such as the PMA) that quietly enable autonomy in old age. Each chapter invites reflection on how these lived observations might inspire Singapore’s future designs for care and aging. Limited copies currently available this weekend at @singaporeartbookfair (31 Oct - 2 Nov 2025) at @bluetaped (booth B20). @enggeng_ @clarissaedeline @orcfull

@enggeng_ is currently representing Singapore at @milan.design.week as part of @designsingapore future impact exhibition. @enggeng spent the last year finalising his amazing publication on dumpster diving, its importance and our roles in utilising the act as designers and citizens. If you’re in #milan be sure to go check him and other great singaporean designers out! We couldn’t be more proud! #singapore #design #milandesignweek #futuredesign #bluetaped

In our previous article of this series, we explored how elderly PMA users modify their devices to meet everyday needs. Attaching storage crates, umbrellas, cushions, and even makeshift accessories to compensate for design oversights. These small yet meaningful hacks reveal a larger truth, that current PMA designs could be better designed to support the realities of ageing. This led us to wonder—what if PMAs evolved beyond just mobility? What if they were designed not just for movement, but for the full spectrum of daily interactions that elderly users navigate? This time, we explored what the future of PMAs could look like, imagining new possibilities that enhance independence, dignity, and comfort. Read more about how we might adapt the design of PMA for the elderly, instead of the other way around, linked in our bio.

End-of-life care goes beyond hospitals and hospices—it is also about spending one’s twilight years with freedom and dignity. For many Singaporeans, this sense of freedom now rides on three or four wheels! At brief., we continued our investigation into what end-of-life care entails. This time, we turned our attention to a popular elderly mobility option that roams Singapore’s heartlands—the motorised Personal Mobility Aid (PMA). For these elderly individuals, we noticed that PMAs are more than mere mobility aids. What stood out was how each PMA often featured a DIY touch. Read more about our investigation into how the elderly ‘hacks’ their PMAs, linked in our bio.

A modern rebrand that bakes Egyptian heritage into every bite. We recently did a visual identity project with @the_egyptian_baker — a lovely local bakery celebrated for its bespoke cakes and authentic Egyptian desserts. From the start, we knew that the rebrand had to be as sweet & alluring as their baked goods! Working closely with the bakery team, we crafted an identity that feels modern yet honourably rooted in tradition, making every interaction with the bakery a reminder of its rich cultural heritage. Modular dormitory furniture that fits the budget—and the space. As a continuation of the work that Alistair (@orcfull ) & Eng Geng (@enggeng_ ) did in the past with Dormitory Association Singapore Limited (DASL), together with Meet&Co, we aimed to elevate dormitory living standards for Singapore’s migrant workers while keeping solutions financially feasible for dormitory operators. This project set out to redesign dormitory furniture that meets the daily needs of residents and aligns with the practical concerns of dormitory managers and business stakeholders. It’s the last day of 2024! As the year comes to an end, we’d like to take the opportunity to share the projects that our studio got to work on this 2024—from digital interfaces, physical exhibitions, to authentic brand identities. Stay tuned as we dive deeper into each project across the next few days!

(Part 2/2) End-of-life care is not a “what if” but “when” and who will be there when my time comes. A common yet often-overlooked aspect of this care is the role of domestic workers in eldercare. In Singapore, older adults increasingly rely on domestic helpers for daily support. Yet, how does this reliance shape their experience and autonomy, and what can we learn from local communities about designing spaces and systems that uphold their dignity? Our team set out into the neighbourhoods of Singapore in search of elderly and helper pairs, as part of our exploration into the role of domestic helpers in eldercare. Read part 2 of our Medium write-up, linked in our bio.

For the past year, our office has been located at Telok Blangah House. It’s an old building opposite VivoCity, on the rim of Mount Faber. Every day on our familiar walk to Seah Im Hawker Centre, we pass by this row of trees marking the start of Mount Faber’s hiking trail. In recent days, where the winds are strong, there is a tree that demands your attention. The white undersides of its leaves visualise the path and movement of the wind. The tree changes colour with the intensity of the wind. Like those colour changing heat mugs. If you’re in the area for lunch, swing by and give the tree the time of day.
