Iām often asked, āYou really like running for fun, donāt you?ā
My answer is usually a smile and a quick, āUh⦠you can say that.ā
Running has taken me through seasonsāsome filled with ārunnerās highsā and flow states, and others where it feels like a never-ending task.
But last Sunday at the Oakland Half, I found that joy again. Every hill tried me, but all I could hear was
@barack_obutta taking us through Stocker Hills (IYKYK). Each mile, I felt the pulse of Oaklandā10,999 runners moving as one. From Lake Merritt to Piedmont, the nerves faded as we took on all 13.1.
This wasnāt just another raceāthis one was personal. Three years ago, I decided to face my fear of cardio and lean into doing something hard⦠and rewarding.
Big thank you to the
@keepbouncing_la community for holding space for LA runners in the Bay.
@keilynxr āthose nonverbal cues and quick sprints carried us through miles 11ā13.1.
And to my #1 cheerleader, coach š
, and fiancƩ
@jay.es.be āalways the loudest, always in my corner š¤
Oakland⦠you might see me again.
But for now, Iāll take this PR and medal.
