Today marks a new chapter for newborn babies in Tanzania.
The first dedicated Neonatal Intensive Care has officially opened.
This unit represents more than a building. It represents:
• Trained healthcare workers.
• Life-saving equipment.
• Stronger health systems.
• And a commitment to ensuring that babies born too soon have a real chance to survive and thrive.
Built in partnership with local leadership from the Doris Mollel Foundation (@dorismollelfoundation ), national authorities, and global supporters, this milestone demonstrates what is possible when collaboration meets long-term commitment.
We were honored to welcome Prof. Mohamed Yakub Janabi (@prof.janabi ), WHO Regional Director for Africa, as our Guest of Honor.
The Kwimba NCU has the capacity to care for 42 infants at a time and includes two staff houses to support continuous service delivery. It is expected to serve more than 1,300 sick and low-birth-weight newborns every year.
But this is only the beginning.
Across Africa, thousands of newborns still lack access to specialized neonatal care. Every Life was created to change that — sustainably, responsibly, and at scale.
One unit is open.
Many more must follow.

Through our collaboration with SWAPOL, children living in child-headed households received support that restored safety, dignity, confidence, and hope.
