When there’s an invite to go drink sake at 3pm on a random Thursday, you say YES!!! Izakaya Genbe in Kīhei may soon be offering this sake course to the public and we were fortunate to give it a test run - thanks to the amazing ladies at @japaneseculturalsociety . We rarely get variety for dining experiences in Central Maui so when we learned (by accident too) about a 3-course seating Steak Frites Nights at @velzylandburgerco , we told chef Kyle to sign us up! It’s only twice a month, with less than 20 per seating schedule and by rez only. The team is currently exploring expanding options so their intro price of $85 is such a steal - won’t last long! Thank you for a great meal and for setting a new standard for Rockefeller oysters. We look forward to other international cuisines! #morethanburgers #wailuku

These empty nesters are empty nesters again now that I’m gone - they are left with dog Bianca and several adopted street cats and Ninang to referee and maintain their sanity. Ten years later, they will be older and some difficult conversations need to happen but we’re happy they are enjoying life today. Makulit lang. Take care of each other now.

I used to take all these creative food stalls and restaurants for granted before I moved to the US - because we were always surrounded by them and there’s too many! I just appreciate them more now and will not tire of endless food trips in the Philippines. Until next time!

Today we were treated to a tour of GMA Studios and participated in the audience for live variety show TiktokClock hosted by Kuya Kim, Herlene Budol and friends. We had a fabulous time meeting the celebrities behind the scenes! The tour was totally unplanned, but made possible because @fylpro President @msgvjopanda is also in Manila meeting with GMA International partners! So it was an eager YESSS when an invite came. The Filipino Young Leaders Program has a long standing partnership with GMA and I’m so proud to see it still going. Salamat po Madame Mae Trono for meeting us, and to Dianne and Ian as well. The last time I was here was almost a decade ago - where we had delegates meet with GMA officials and dialogue on important issues for Filipinos in the diaspora. I could still remember @ejrdavidphd saying “let’s make brown skin cool.” Has there been progress? I think yes and no. But the effort continues, which is important - and this is why the relationship with FYLPRO is a good one. Mahalo for a memorable time! ❤️ PS. @kuyakim_atienza not sure when your last visit was, but International Marketplace in Waikiki is totally upgraded now! We’re throwing a party for my mom’s 70th and left my husband back on Maui to hold the fort while I enjoy some Philippine summer weather. Umm, it’s not enjoyable - it’s so mainit for comfort 😅🔥 but I look forward to seeing everyone, and doing everything - including witnessing first hand all the parental bickering I have the honor of refereeing.
