#FYLPROAlumniNews: FYLPRO 2018 delegate Tony DelaRosa has been selected as a 2026 National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellow. The fellowship offers training on dissertation writing, mentorship, and $27,500 to complete our writing. The pool consisted of 35 selected from 500 applicants.

#FYLPROAlumniNews: FYLPRO 2012 delegate Louella Rose Cabalona's work was featured in the Chicago Sun-Times. Cabalona will expose local audiences to the musical style while telling cultural stories during “The Great Filipino Songbook” along with 2018 delegate Baron Lloyd S. Cabalona and their band SamaSama Project on May 15 at the Epiphany Center for the Arts.

#FYLPROAlumniNews: FYLPRO 2022 delegate Michele Josue is the director of "Food Roots," a documentary which follows Fil-Am celebrity restaurateur Billy Dec as he travels to the Philippines to discover ancestral recipes and reconnect with his cultural heritage. The film has been featured at notable festivals including the Chicago International Film Festival and Newport Beach Film Festival. #FYLPROAlumniNews: FYLPRO 2017 delegate Ireneo A. Reus III, Esq. was featured in a California Lawyers Association article, "Paying It Forward: Ireneo Reus on Career, Community, and Mentorship." Ireneo said teaching and mentoring law students keep him sharp. “It helps me see different perspectives, and, of course, I get to interact with other faculty members who have mentored and coached me in teaching.”

#FYLPRONews: US-Asia Institute 2023 IMPACT program participant Beatrice (Bea) Millan-Windorski has been crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2026. Her IMPACT mentor was FYLPRO President Genevieve V. Jopanda. Bea also represented the United States at the Miss Earth 2024 pageant. She grew up in Wisconsin and credits FYLPRO and the mentorship program for giving her confidence to move to the Philippines. FYLPRO has been providing mentors to IMPACT participants since 2021.

#FYLPROAlumniNews: FYLPRO board member and 2022 delegate Jamille Nagtalon-Ramos has been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor with tenure effective July 1, 2026 at Rutgers School of Nursing- Camden. She is an internationally recognized clinician, researcher, award-winning author, educator, and a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner at Penn Medicine. In 2003, she pioneered the first obstetric nurse practitioner hospitalist role in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She founded the Pinay Health Research Collaborative, an interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to advancing research, education, and community engagement focused on the health and well-being of Filipinas.

#TayoFellowship: 2026 Program Applications Deadline is APRIL 22!
This summer, Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO)'s Tayo unit is seeking its seventh cohort of fellows to join the ongoing operations of Tayo in the areas of research, grant development, community engagement and social media, and editorial.
Fellows will get hands-on experience in the areas above and collaborate with Tayo team members. The Tayo Fellowship program will also include professional and career development opportunities.
The fellowship program will run from June 7 - August 30.
