We are so proud and excited to share this mini documentary that has been crafted in the background for the better part of the last year. SOARE has always been a tricky one to explain to someone new; how do you share and impart the impact of a non-profit organization that combines a 24-7 maker space full of machinery and tools, with consistent high impact programs and events, all housed within the rapidly growing and expanding outdoor recreation industry that is the Sea to Sky? Well, we think this video accomplishes just that. Shown here is just the quick preview - please follow the link in bio to watch the full docu-short on YouTube! In the past 2.5 years since our launch, SOARE has hosted 27 incredible in-person programs, helped cultivate $500K+ in revenue growth for our Members, and brought closer together the vibrant and growing outdoor rech-tech business community right here in the S2S. Incredible thanks and gratitude to @keatingcolm for your vision and artistry, @weareskeletoncrew for your support on graphics and animations, @t__cuth & @aluulacomposites for being your enigmatic and curious self, and of course, our Local, Provincial and Federal partners, without whom none of this would even exist.

Earlier this year, we partnered with a local creative team to tell a different kind of story — not about drama or headlines, but about the quiet, committed work that goes into every rescue. The result? Our first short film, which premiered at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival. Today, we’re proud to release it here. This isn’t just a look behind the curtain. It’s part of something much bigger. We’ve officially announced plans for a new purpose-built compound — a much-needed facility to support our growing team, improve training, house our equipment, and respond more effectively to the increasing demands of our region. But we can’t build it alone and we need your help. 🎥 Watch the film.  📣 Share it with your people.  💛 If you’re able, donate to support the new compound project (link in bio). Thanks for standing with us — and with those who find themselves in trouble in the backcountry. We’re here when you need us. Squamish Search and Rescue, Part 1. From epic rescues to the quiet, tireless dedication of our SSAR volunteers, this series showcases the heart of what makes Squamish’s adventure culture possible. Every year, SSAR responds to over 125 calls, helping those in need across rugged terrain, steep slopes, and unpredictable weather. This essential service is powered entirely by volunteers and the support of the Squamish community. While we share these stories, we hope to inspire continued support for our team, whose work ensures that adventurers—locals and visitors alike—can continue to explore the mountains safely. Watch the first short film now and learn more about how you can support Squamish Search and Rescue at squamishsar.org. One of the first things I did when I moved to Canada was go to the VIMFF festival. It was an awesome show and it’s been great to watch over the years. It was class to have our film selected this year but to win an award was definitely not what we expected. Very grateful and can’t wait to go to some of the shows! Thanks again to everyone who made this film possible. From the people who gave us their time in interviews, shared footage, fought at the blockades and of course the Kickstarter backers. Thank you all!
