Couldn’t be more proud of my Mom! Her first solo show opened last night @salon94 and it was a packed house full of friends and family. It’s now open until the end of March and you all need to go see it. I don’t say this because Justine’s my mom, but because she’s an incredibly talented artist who took years perfecting her craft before wanting anyone to see what she was up to all along. From ceramic to bronze, she can do it all and her works speaks for itself.
“The act of looking becomes a complex interplay of desire, judgment, and reflection, prompting us to examine our own identities and the personas we craft in response to the world around us.”
Incredible time auctioning my piece Never Used, Only Damaged (2020) this past Sunday in Venice supporting @amfar and their mission. Thank you to the @amfar@shawnonthemove and @52westagency for all the help and a great evening and @justinewk for being the best date I could ask for!
This morning at 1:05 AM, the IM-1 Mission NOVA-C Lunar Lander successfully launched from the Kennedy Space Center towards the Moon in a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. It’s been 52 years since the United States has touched the surface of the Moon, and in 9 days we’ll see if we reach it. We made history today. We put the first piece of art on the Moon.
Seeing and hearing the rocket as it launched was an incredible and surreal experience. I’ve never seen something so beautiful in my life, and I hope my friends and family weren’t recording it, but living it. It looked like the northern lights were shining above our heads.
Thank you @jeffkoons for trusting me and the vision and letting me do this project with you. I love you and can’t wait to see what we do next. Thank you @patrickcolange , @nasa , @spacex , @intuitivemachines , Gary, Lauran, and the rest of the Koons Studio staff for all the hard work it took to get here. I’m so proud. We finally have lift off.
