yo ～～ it’s been a minuteeee and now ya girl is living in taipeiiiiii — marking over a year. 💗
the plan to get here was years in the making and there were many rupturing experiences along the way I’m still learning to transform, but im grateful for all it took to get me here. im giving myself the summers in taipei i didn’t have access to growing up. the privilege of having the access to not only travel but get to experience life & create home here isn’t lost on me.
i’ve been reflecting on 緣分yuánfèn, the 糹in 緣being the silk thread。 緣分 loosely translates to “fate” in English, but from what I learned, it’s less prescriptive and has more to do with the natural flow of people in and out of your life. we all just undulating in the looom. & out here, the yuanfen is heavyyyyy 🥺
It takes a lot of courage and humility to open one’s community to another so thank you to all who’ve welcomed me in the 886 so far ~ 感謝my 很有fashun的阿姨 squad, elders n 抓周d bbs, friends who know me as kayla or 小包 or butterfly 姐姐的愷樂 lol we be making ~community~ together out here, and anyone who i got to share gentle flows with. And my ♡’s who hold me down with nocturnal heart 2 hearts.
i been told it’s important to put down flags in life as reminders of where we’ve been, so maybe that’s what this is for me… or maybe this is all just an excuse to share cute pics, so there ＼\٩(๑`^´๑)۶//／

hi hii! 🍊 i have been in japan spending time with the loveliest humans and in calm little forest parks tucked away in the city..preparing for what will be the next adventure.
soon I’ll head to China for a @foundsound music diplomacy fellowship, sponsored by the US Dept State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. For the entire month of July, I will be one of 3 US musicians joining 3 Chinese musicians. We’ll meet for the first time in Lijiang (Yunnan Province), exchange music and production techniques. Then for two weeks, we will split off into groups and travel where our heart leads us, writing & capturing sounds and samples along the way. At the end of the month, we will reunite in Beijing where we’ll rapidly produce and rehearse what we’ve captured and perform it live in multiple venues across the city.
this will be my first time visiting China. there’s so much I am curious about in the realm of folk/classical music that has been preserved, each major city’s unique music scene, and learning about each fellow’s process… (and hope I can visit the provinces where my family comes from too)

many thank you’s to the humans of @saysi_sa for inviting me as a visiting artist this week, who i met thanks to @project1324 + @sundanceorg . say sí is a free year-round after school arts program in san antonio. they have dedicated teaching artists for game dev + visual art + film/animation + more in a little labyrinth of studio workspaces and galleries.. i am very happy places like these exist. if you’re local to SA be sure to check out their exhibition “Stories Seldom Told” on may 4 and catch them at pax south con in the future :>

• austin was a dream • 🌹 thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us this weekend, to @solcollective and @rpm.fm for bringing together artists from across the nation together for an unforgettable night at @sxsw ... it’s a surreal thing for many people to come together from around the world, seeking and finding beauty in what connects us, through music. i’m walking away with memories of wonderful musicians and friendships to bloom. and i won’t forget you singing with me and asking you to give hugs to each other during my last songs — that was very nice (〃ω〃) i know I’ll be coming back for you someday in the future, Austin. until then ~ .
