Light, Shadow & Form · An Installation by Kate Semple
York-based artist and former TOAST New Maker Kate Semple has created more than 120 paper vessels for our Autumn Winter 2025 concept, The Curious Mind.
Characterised by their straight lines and angular silhouettes, the pieces are inspired by twentieth-century still life paintings and informed by the soft colour palette of our collection.

Lots of cups of tea today~ turning scraps into cards for the final orders from my shop. I love a turnaround day to ponder whats gone & whats to come
Now I have four weeks creating a new collection for my first event with Endless Love Creative which im super excited about. Ill be sharing my new work along with many talented folk for SUMMER FESTIVAL on Sunday 7th of June at The Mowbray & Victoria
Was an absolute pleasure to have Kate @katesemple with us on Saturday, leading the workshop Three Bottles: A Still Life.
Lovely atmosphere in the studio with our keen learners getting in the zone sketching out, then making their chosen shapes. So interesting to see the variety and interplay between each person’s trio.
Looking forward to seeing them all once fired and glazed.
