Rooted in material process yet rich with imagination, the exhibition reflects on home, ecology and the enduring dialogue between earth, water and the human hand.

Thank you for the lovely messages and enquiries about these little paintings I posted in my stories yesterday. I'm in the process of developing some new prints with the Old School Gallery, which these might be part of. However, it's been a good nudge that I should get my arse in gear and make a webshop...so I shall aim to do that before the end of the year... Now I've said it out loud I have to do it 😂.
Anyway, these were inspired by a walk near my house in the West End of Newcastle. We're on the cusp of winter in England, but there's still signs of life, goldfinches on the feeders and memories of when the fruit trees on our street were more bountiful.

I've had quite a long hiatus from making work and now I have a bit of time feeling a little lost as to what to make. My head says to make something sensible.. botanical probably. But I'm really enjoying making these scrappy watercolours of tents (or castles) as an excuse to play with colour and lots of wet paint. We are out and about promoting our next exhibition, Cunning Folk, co-curated with @moirafrith and @stephenfowler_rubberstamper .
This exhibition features a collection of works by various artists who interpret the theme of witches and cunning folk from a range of perspectives—from the historical and mythological to the contemporary and abstract. The pieces draw from a wide range of influences, including popular culture, ancient traditions of wise women and healers, and the abstract concepts of nature, intuition, and the unknown.
The preview evening is on Saturday 18th October 6-8pm with music and merriment. You are all invited x
