Last days of @kasprsg FEEDBACK on view @medusa.fyi . It was such a pleasure to work with this legend. Groševs was born in 1983. For several years, however, his Facebook profile listed his birth year as 1913. The joke persisted until it became biologically impossible. Yet this gesture lingers. Kaspars Groševs’ solo show Feedback treats time as a signal looping back on itself. The works in the show carry the charge of something belated and anticipatory at once. Curated by yours truly.

Kaspars Groševs, Rygoje gyvenantis menininkas, muzikantas, DJ ir kuratorius, aktyvus Baltijos alternatyvios muzikos scenos dalyvis. 2014 m. jis kartu įkūrė galeriją 427, o 2017 m. kasečių leidybos platformą No Sex Just Talk. - Kaspars Groševs is a Riga based artist, musician, DJ, and curator, and an active participant in the Baltic alternative music scene. In 2014 he co-founded Gallery 427, and in 2017 launched the cassette label No Sex Just Talk. Fragments from an express interview with Latvian artist Kaspars Groševs (@kasprsg ) about his exhibition “Feedback,” on view at Medūza gallery (@meduza.fyi ) until 11 April. When you enter the Medūza gallery, located in the center of Vilnius, for Kaspars Groševs’ exhibition, you immediately begin to both see and hear. The space is quite open: large empty areas alternate with hanging paintings. As you move from one image to another, you also move from one room to the next, winding around walls (some of which were specially built for the exhibition), gradually drawing closer to the source of the sound – in the largest room, in the corner by the window, there is a compact black console, with a pair of black speakers nearby. The images themselves are extremely colorful, reduced to graphic forms of smiling faces, slightly reminiscent of iconic emojis on psychedelic pills from the 2000s. We met Kaspars in Vilnius just a couple of days after the exhibition opened. It was clear that he felt completely at home in the city. - To read the full interview, visit us here: arterritory.com

Kaspars Groševs is a thinker, artist, curator, musician, and writer. His painting practice is defined by an experimental approach and the use of grotesque figures through which an emotionally and psychologically charged inner world, often marked by contradiction, emerges. The seemingly innocent characters carry an underlying layer of vulnerability and empathy. By attributing adult emotions to childlike figures, a contemplative little gnome and a smiling mushroom beneath a tree that subtly recalls a nuclear cloud, the work introduces a tension and sense of urgency and raises the question: can cuteness function as more than mere charm, as a tool for critique, survival, or adaptation? Kaspars Groševs Feedback Atidarymas 02.26 18:00 Vasario 26 d. 18 val. Lietuvos dailininkų sąjungos šiuolaikinio bei kultūros erdvė „Medūza“ kviečia į latvių menininko Kaspars Groševs parodos „Feedback“ atidarymą. Groševs tapyba atliepia XX a. pradžios bandymus sukurti dvasines gramatikas per deformaciją, spalvinį perteklių ir ritmiškus raštus. Jei abstrakcija kadaise žadėjo transcendenciją per formalią dermę, Groševs demonstruoja dermę, virstančią apofenija – nenumaldomu noru įžvelgti struktūrą ten, kur jos gali ir nebūti. Parodos kuratorė - Žanete Liekīte, paroda veiks iki balandžio 11 d. — Kaspars Groševs Feedback Opening 02.26 6PM On February 26th, at 6 PM, ‘Medūza’, the LAU contemporary art and culture space, invites you to the opening of Latvian artist Kaspars Groševs’ exhibition ‘Feedback’. Groševs’ paintings wave back to those early twentieth-century attempts to invent spiritual grammars through distortion, chromatic excess, and rhythmic patterning. If abstraction once promised transcendence through formal coherence, Groševs stages coherence tipping into apophenia: the compulsion to perceive structure where there might be none. The exhibition is curated by Žanete Liekīte and will be on show until the 11th of April.
