Everyone , faculty to staff working on “The Nureyev Project” , an international educational partnership launched in 2025 by the
@rudolf_nureyev_foundation .
The initiative links the San Francisco Ballet School with other elite institutions worldwide to nurture young talents and preserve
@rudolf_nureyev legacy in dance history. The project ensures Nureyev’s distinctive and demanding choreography , uncompromising personality and technique remain a pillar of ballet education .
San Francisco Ballet has a long-standing historical connection to Rudolf Nureyev most notably in 1964 when Rudolf performed with Dame Margot Fonteyn as guest artists and in 1967 when the couple returned to the War Memorial Opera House to dance Romeo and Juliet . In 2012
@sfballet performed Rudolf Nureyev’s Raymonda act III .
The ballet ,La Bayadere was chosen by the
@sfballetschool to work on a few variations with the students , I am thrilled to be here
@sfballetschool with them ! 🙏
In 1974 , Rudolf choreographed
@operadeparis La Bayadere act III (The Kingdom of the Shades) and in 1992 he created La Bayadere , a ballet in three acts . I was lucky enough to be part of the cast on October 8 ,1992 Opening Night and to dance one of the Shades (the first shade ) in Act III .
Later on , I performed Princess Gamzatti .
So grateful , I was there to work with him on his last ballet and to have learned so much from him as a dancer,choreographer and director .His work ethic , his dedication for dance ,his passion for the art of classical ballet , his challenging choreographies , keeping dancers in peak physical condition with a high level of technique ,to motivate dancers to work more , to preserve classical technique , to push dancers limits , increasing technical difficulties for corps de ballet ensemble , to mainten
