Meet Karim In The MIDI
“We need to move away from microwave success”.
Less than 10 days to go before MIDI Eastern takes over @thelastarch on Friday 17th Oct and our next DJ we get to know personally and visually is the charismatic @karimbitar1
Karim is a student of music both sonically and academically. A champion of the multi-genre with a special soft spot for the percussive and bassy thumpers out in the wild. And a core belief that sonics of all kinds bring their own particular sense of beauty.
We teamed up with the godfather of photography @nahwandjaff as we went around London and captured Karim in his element and got to know the man some people call Kaz 🧐.
Have a read and buy a ticket in our bio to see Karim bring that percussive energy on the 17th 🪭🪭🪭
Community service in Hackney Wick
First festival of the summer in the bag for @queensyardsummerparty - it’s always had my heart as a raver but it was about time to step behind the decks and move wicked.
Love to everyone dancing on the tables and bringing the energy outside @colourfactorylondon taking the scenic route to tinnitus.
Protect your ears and come down to a few sets coming up in May and June with @meetinthemidi
Some people play music. Others create spaces where you actually feel it.
Karim Bitar sits firmly in that second lane.
From early roots in Middle Eastern sound to curating through @meetinthemidi , his approach goes way beyond DJing. It’s about context, storytelling and building experiences that ask you to slow down, listen properly and connect with the music on a deeper level.
We get into sonic lectures, vinyl culture, Soho Radio, and how Meet in the MIDI is reshaping what a music event can look like - less consumption, more connection. Thoughtful, intentional and built to last.
With more on the way, including:
📍 MITM DJs at @jaguarshoes – Fri 24th Apr
📍 Exploring Skepta at @the_bbe_store – Tues 28th Apr

“Art is born from the instinct to mark and locate ourselves in time. It’s not something that you choose to engage in. It’s a condition of being human.”
For Why Art? #002, Karim Bitar discusses Kerry James Marshall and art as a marker of time.
