âYeah, the movie (@orsomething.mp4 ) is really special. It was written before âKeep the Meter Runningâ or âSubway Takes.â Which is funny, because the movie is a bunch of takes, and part of it takes place on the subway.
I think itâs a powerful story about a single-serving friendship. Thatâs what I call it. I had an experience once where I was at Joseph Leonard in the West Village, having a really bad dayâmaybe a bad weekend even, or maybe a bad week. And so I went there alone, brought a copy of the newspaper with me. It was a Sunday. And this old lady ended up sitting next to me, and we hit it off, and we ended up going to the MOMA together, spending the whole day together. We went to the Tea Room. Eight hours, ten hours. And then I didnât get her number, and we never saw each other again. Thatâs what I call a single-serving friendship, and theyâre beautiful.â
Thank you @andrewmarantz and @newyorkermag for thinking Iâm interesting enough to do a Q&A with.

In 2022 @kareem and @adamfaze started a short-form video series called @keepthemeterrunnin .
The premise was simple: Get into an iconic yellow cab and keep the meter running, letting the cabbies take you wherever they want to go. The result was a joyride through New York City history, a treat that always felt too big for its minute long confines. Now the show is back, this time on YouTube in full episodic glory.
In its first season, the world met John McDonagh. In addition to being a cab driver for over 40 years, Johnâs a dedicated activist: He appeared in an ad for Mamdaniâs mayoral campaign, hosts a radio show about leftist Irish politics, and organized cabbies against the Iraq war. Heâs also just a really great hang. We had him send us his camera roll from the showâs season 2 premiere, where, for the first time, he says he got to be âone of the beautiful people coming out looking for a cabâ at the end of the night. At the link in bio, @cabtivist tells @nrips all about his night in the spotlight.
A truly incredible night. Thank you to everyone who came out for the premiere of @keepthemeterrunnin at Metrograph. Thank you to the sponsors of the event @infatuation@opentable@youtube@dorisdukefdn .
And huge thank you to AND Media for supporting KTMR and making it all possible.
