It’s my first morning without my sweet Little Bill. I know in our way we’re not supposed to grieve our animals when they pass on because they leave this world in our place. I’m trying to figure out how to do that for a little being that has been my shadow for 11 1/2 years. He’s been there for some of the most important milestones of my life— he was just 30 days shy of walking this entire PhD journey with me. I love my little pubbysh and I am so thankful for the years he spent by my side. It’s not the same without him ❤️
This summer, I took on one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences in my graduate school career. I had the privilege of co-directing the Indigenous Summer Research Program alongside one of my best friends, @jujulisa__ .
For 8-weeks, we taught social psychological research methods to Indigenous students from across the US. They developed their own research questions that centered Indigenous voices and presented their work to friends, family, University of Michigan faculty and leadership at our end of summer conference. It was an incredible celebration of all of their hard work.
As this group is making their way back to their homes, I’m sitting here thinking about all their growth, their wins, their CONFIDENCE, their bright, bright futures and I’m such a proud academic auntie. What an honor to help guide and support young Native scholars in this way. I’m lucky. I’m blessed. I’m proud of every single one of you ❤️
Continue to take up space in the academy. You’re meant to be here and to do this important work. And we’ll always be here for you when you need us 🫶

Spent the summer mentoring and learning from the most incredible group of young Native researchers 🥰 I can’t believe #isrp2022 is over and I most certainly can’t express how proud I am of all of you. “See you soon…” to the #firstandbestcohort ❤️
