Meet Garrett and Isabel Sebra ๐Ÿ‘‹ Garrett and Isabel are from Tehachapi, California, where they first met in sixth grade, and are both graduating with their Juris Doctor (JD) from the UO School of Law. Garrett also earned a master of arts in global studies and completed Oregon Lawโ€™s concentration in international law. They are both scholarship recipients, with Garrett receiving multiple awards including the Oregon Law Merit Scholarship and Isabel receiving the Owens Scholarship. During their time at UO, Isabel and Garrett were both involved in the Oregon Review of International Law, where they served in editorial roles and strengthened their legal writing and editing skills. Isabel was also involved in the Latinx Law Student Association, where she found community and connection within the legal field. Garrett also served as a fellow in the Frohnmayer Leadership Program, where he developed leadership skills and built connections that led to externship opportunities in Washington, D.C. Together, their experiences helped shape their academic and professional growth throughout law school. "The people really made my experience special. Everyone I met helped make my time at UO feel memorable,โ€ said Garrett. Garrett and Isabel found support and connection through their peers, professors, and the broader UO community. From time spent at Autzen Stadium to opportunities across Eugene and beyond, their shared experience made their time at UO especially meaningful. Isabel shares this advice for incoming students: "Reach out to professors more. They are really helpful when youโ€™re struggling with class material, but they also give great career advice." After graduation, Isabel plans to return to Mathews Law, PLLC to work as an estate planning attorney after passing the bar, while Garrett will begin a one-year Attorney Fellowship with the Office of the Utah Attorney General. #DuckGrad26๐ŸŽ“

Meet Monica J. Parra ๐Ÿ‘‹ Monica is from Bucaramanga, Colombia and graduating with her Juris Doctor (JD) from the School of Law. During her time at UO, Monica has been part of the Moot Court oral arguments team, served as a Frohnmayer Leadership Program fellow, a Wayne Morse fellow, and as the National Lawyers Guild 1L representative. These organizations and programs helped her become more comfortable and confident using her voice and opened doors to opportunities she once thought were out of reach. Through the Wayne Morse fellowship, she interned at the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., one of the most rewarding experiences of her time in law school. She shares, "Every organization and club I belonged to contributed to my professional growth in a unique way.โ€ Monica is especially grateful for Mr. Ben, a librarian at UO, who consistently offered support and encouragement throughout her time as a student. She also valued the opportunity to complete her 3L year in Portland. "I have made wonderful connections and gained valuable in-house and judicial externship experience because of the many opportunities that we can access in [Eugene and Portland],โ€ she said. After graduation, Monica will be clerking for the Oregon Court of Appeals and hopes to pursue a career in employment and labor law on the plaintiff side. Her advice for incoming Ducks? "Law school can feel like you are back in high school. If you are a non-traditional, BIPOC student, make sure you expand your horizons by attending events with graduate students from other departments. Building community takes effort and intentionality." #DuckGrad26๐ŸŽ“
