With a professional art career now spanning the best part of 35 years I am humbled to have worked with so many amazing people and work on some life-changing ‘pinch-me moment’ projects. To be given the opportunity to create art on a pair of glasses by @lettylovesspecs for her client and now our friend @romeshranga was a project I just had to do. The project has been six months in the making with many meetings, WhatsApp chats and phone calls leading to me hand-painting two sets of unique hip-hop inspired glasses frames. Romesh is a huge hip hop fan and we both decided early to go with two iconic @wearedelasoul and A Tribe Called Quest albums as the colour theme to work with. The final images can be seen in this post and seeing Romesh’ reaction to being presented with the finished glasses here in Manchester at his @wolfowlpod show @palaceandopera was worth all the time taken to produce them. He even wore the red and green combo spex for the last show of the tour and next day on @realscottmills @bbcradio2 breakfast show! Colette went above and beyond to sort the lenses and frames and I added just enough elements from the albums to highlight Romesh’ love for these amazingly significant albums from his life. I have to give a huge shout out to Romesh for not only being so grateful and generous with his time throughout but for being an amazingly humble and lovely guy. This project has been amazing and I’m really proud of what I created for him with very little canvas to work with. This is just the first of many new projects working with both Colette, @cazal_official and other top glasses brands and high-profile clients so watch this space for updates. It’s not easy to put into words the highlight of my creative career, and I’ve had many amazing experiences, but, having my artwork at the centre of @prideofbritain ’s 25th Anniversary surpassed them all. My creative vision put together over many months with the Pride of Britain team was finally unveiled on Monday night at the @grosvenorhouselondon and welcomed all guests to the most incredible awards evening there is. From pencil drawing to digital layout and transferring a one tenth scale digital artwork to a forty foot corridor design with integrated neon and led uplighters took a lot of grey matter from someone who ‘colours-in’ for a living but I’m beyond proud to say ‘I did it!!’ I achieved something that was beyond words and it was amazing to witness everyone having selfies and capturing my creation in their very own personal moments. I’m passionate about interior design and creating emotive artwork for environments. I love working with hotels and events to bring clients visions to life with my 30 plus years of experience and this creation for Pride of Britain was not only an emotional moment personally but a hugely humbling honour. I wanted to post just a couple of highlights here of the artwork in full and a few of the elements that brought it to fruition for such a prestigious event. Two months of work for one incredible night where the whole country celebrates ordinary people doing extraordinary things. The traitors final is on tonight, so we’re getting this post out early — we’ll have better things to do than scroll, like watching flames dance while we polish glasses and pretend we’re not knackered. The Acunto is finally fired up (hallelujah), which means the pizzas are officially on their way! The chefs have been grafting today getting her settled and she’s ready to do Denton proud. Meanwhile, the toilets are now complete with the fabulous artwork from @justin_eagleton — a full celebration of all that’s Denton (and beyond) splashed across the walls. You’ll probably spend longer sat down than you need to, and we’re absolutely fine with that. We’re nearly there now… roll on December when you’ll finally get to meet Dave and all his mates.

Two of the many artworks I’ve created for @malmaisonhotels Manchester, Piccadilly which are stylised to match the interior design and branding of this beautiful hotel. The nods to @vimto which is a great export form our city and a playful take on the @coronationstreet ducks from the walls of Hilda Ogden. ‘If you know you know style’ artwork has become a signature of mine and that combined with a colourful palette and touch of humour makes for artwork that fits this space perfectly. I’ve recently painted one of my music heroes @richardashcroftofficial directly as a response to an incredibly emotional radio show on @bbcradio2 that @vernonkay presented. Vernon’s show live from Heaton Park when @oasis returned this Summer was so good as he toured Manchester and it’s many amazing venues and people and he spoke to a survivor of the bomb here who was about to have a very special night hearing the songs that got her through the most traumatic time in her life. When Vernon posted pictures of the gig and everyone shared videos I realised in my art career I hadn’t ever captured Ashcroft on canvas so that moment I decided I would put that right. This painted portrait then became about capturing an emotional moment and connection with a fantastic time for our city this summer when Oasis mania took over and Richard Ashcroft showed why he is held in such high-esteem by his peers and fans in the music industry. I surrounded the portrait with a collage of lyrics from many of those great songs we’ve all come to know and love. So, that’s my why….one radio show on Radio 2 gave me an emotional moment and made me want to paint this portrait and I will send a copy of it to the radio station and Vern as a thank you.
