The live podcast show featured an all star panel of past podcast guests that included Rolland Tizuela of @campthropology , Nikki Taylor aka @adventure_pea of @wayoutwild_ , RJ Soria of @trvrsoutdoors , and @justroc as the moderator. 🌊Some places don’t just echo with waves, they echo with life.🦆 Malibu Lagoon State Beach is one of those places. A meeting place of ocean, lagoon, marsh, and sky. A landscape alive with movement, where terns skim the water, shorebirds dance along the sand, and migration stories unfold above our heads every season. It’s the kind of place that reminds you that birdwatching is about far more than checking species off a list. It’s about learning how to pay attention again. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who showed up with open hearts, patient eyes, and a willingness to learn alongside one another. Whether it was your very first bird walk or you’ve loved birds for years, your presence helped create a space that felt welcoming, intentional, and full of wonder. A huge thank you to @just.trek and @___naturespalette___ who helped make this gathering possible and to the birds themselves, our teachers for the morning. From the rhythmic calls of gulls overhead to the quiet elegance of shorebirds along the lagoon, every encounter carried a reminder that we are part of something larger than ourselves. Today was such a fun learning experience. 🦜🌿 I joined @___naturespalette___ and @just.trek for their intro to birdwatching activity and honestly loved it. I learned so much and felt like a little kid getting excited over every new thing I spotted. Today I saw a house finch, song sparrow, elegant tern, and pelican. It was really nice finally being able to put names to the many bird sounds I hear so often outdoors. The @merlin.bird.id and @inaturalistshitpost apps really came in clutch helping me learn about the birds around us. Definitely a hobby I want to keep exploring. Thank you for this experience really looking forward to attending more of them. @_outadvplus_ @n_o_c_s @drinkrivr

2026 Fool’s Traverse Course Preview Trek 🃏🪖😈⁣ ⁣ 😤 Back on our peak bagging, training bullshiet with @trvrsoutdoors in preparation for the return of the notorious #FoolsTraverse on June 13 - an 11 peak endurance challenge in the Mount Baldy region. ⁣ ⁣ ⛰️ Another brutal ascent through the sketchy Falling Rock canyon and onward to bag Ontario Peak. Big effort, big climb, and big trek bravado all around. Even caught the mighty @a_todamadre_hikers before descending the summit 🤘 ⁣ 🫡 Always an honor to trek alongside all these badass SoCal mountain goats. ⁣

Moments from @highlander.usa Los Angeles 🐐⛰️ 🥾 Members of the #JustTrekCrew linked up with @highlander.usa for their One Day Hike and it delivered. From seamless shuttle service out of Monrovia to basecamp at @adamspackstation / Chantry Flats, the entire experience was dialed from start to finish. 🌳 After check-in, BIB pickup, and loading up on complimentary food + snacks (all included!), we set out on the stunning 10-mile Mt. Zion Loop. This area truly feels like the Pacific Northwest of Angeles Forest with its flowing creeks, waterfalls, moss-covered trees, historic cabins, and dense forest all around. At one point, someone in the crew said it best: “It feels like we’re in Japan right now.” ✨ Along different sections of the route, we shared the trail with the @latrailkillers fam and checked off a rare one together, Mt. Zion summit! This was closed for a long time so it was extra special experiencing a new peak with everyone for their first time too. 🏁 🎊 Post-trek, the Finisher’s Party back at @adamspackstation brought it all full circle: yoga, more food + snacks, raffle prizes, and a live band to cap off an unforgettable day. @filipa_beros was so great on the mic too!! Lastly, even got to surprise @mrtraveler.me , founder of @vamoshikingcrew , with his Top Episode of 2025 plaque 👏🏆🎙️ 🐻🏞️ Next up → Big Bear Lake (June 23–27) for their annual backpacking festival 🏕️

Starting at midnight on a 16 mile out-and-back, Juan and his friend encounter mountain lion chirps ahead and behind around 2AM while two women in their group push far ahead.
