On Thursday 14 May from 19.00 the spaces become a juncture of 80s cassette-sets, textile truth telling and disassociative audiovisual fragments. The exhibition will be opened with an introduction by curators Julia Fidder & Xenia Tsompanidou. 🪼 The Day it Rains Jellyfish PART III: RE-EVALUATING VALUE 14/05 - 28/06 @vanabbehuis RE-EVALUATING VALUE investigates the assignment of social and political value to human beings, and questions its relation to the power hierarchy that is embedded within knowledge production, story telling and truth-building. To go towards a different understanding of value, we need to overthrow the values that are installed upon us by dominant culture and undermine the patterns that shape our understanding of value. Power influences the ways in which we perceive the truth through allowing only those with the most privileged identity to become tellers of truth while rejecting the proposition of alternative stories. By contesting this monopoly in truth-telling, the exhibition proposes to re-assign value as a form of solidarity. ~ pro češtinu přejděte dolů ~ Becoming an Octopus looks into imaginaries of water and fluidity. This year during the Summer School we will conduct a twofold exploration. Within the first part of the program, we will understand water not as a resource or capital, but as a vessel, site or environment for rest, story-telling, joy, curiosity and life. In the second part of the program, we look at fluidity as both a survival tactic and act of resistance within a rigid world. The Summer School is organized and curated by Julia Fidder and Tea Kříž. It will run between 10th and 11th July, 2026 at Pragovka Gallery. OPEN CALL: Short Films 🎬 We’re inviting artists to submit short films for A RAIN OF COUNTER-NARRATIVES. This outdoor screening event is part of The Day it Rains Jellyfish, a body of research and an exhibition trilogy exploring conspiracy as a way to challenge dominant narratives and the idea of a single objective truth. In this frame and following the exhibition ‘On Re-evaluating Value’, we’re looking for short films that are rooted in solidarity and use counter-narratives to (re-)tell stories about themes such as immigration, settler colonialism, class & labour and gender representation.
