Not long till @hullopenstudios_ takes over the city and we're excited to be one of the participating studios. Come nosey inside the studios of our resident artists, covering a range of practices from paint, print, textiles, animation, photography, graphic design and more. Plus get a look at our open access print studio, shared spaces and creative co-working. We'll have an exhibition up in our project space with work from our artists too. And we're just a pinch of what's on that day, make a day of it and visit all the studios across the city opening up.

What is it? A massively fun workshop where you’ll get to feel like a child again! You’ll have the opportunity to carve your own unique linocut design and explore the numerous different possibilities for playing with paint and collage when using a gelli plate. In the end you’ll crate a combined piece of work that is one of a kind in the truest sense of the word. Your imagination is the only limit! Where is it? @juicehull in Hull! It’s located on Humber street, which is only a small walk from Hull city centre and parking options are available nearby in the fruit market car park. When is it? The workshop runs from 6-8:30pm with tea and coffee available for free during the session. Tickets are available via the link in my bio now! 🎟️ Workshop photography courtesy of @_inferno_photography_ #printworkshop #mixedmediaprintmaking #workshopsinhull #hull

Had the pleasure of taking part in a screen printing workshop with @josephjcox at @juicehull this past week. It’s been a while, a long while since I donned the apron and got ink in my fingernails but when the opportunity arose, I just had to go give it a go! 🖼️ It’s a rarity these days for me to deal in the psychical with my work and screen printing is a process I’ve always enjoyed. Years have gone by since messing around with different processes at Uni and I think this might have lit the flame back up! I’ve always really loved the quick-fire nature of the pull and being able to totally change the context of your original work. In fact, I think I’d forgotten just how much I loved it. The design being printed here was a (failed) entry to an @oasis T-Shirt competition for the Teenage Cancer Trust, celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. There was something about it I thought would be nice to use further down the line as I hate wasting good work. Anyway, cometh the time, cometh the design… it turns out old copies of the @ft_weekend can make for an interesting marriage with Oasis inspired graphics, who knew? Cheers for the tutorial Joe, you might live to regret it Xx P.S Support and love to @teenage_cancer 👊❤️

📣PARTICIPANT ANNOUNCEMENT @zivarnamurphyceramics Zivarna is a research-based conceptual ceramic artist, having trained in Medical Anthropology and holding a PhD in Human Sciences she brings emergent themes from her research around the social aspects of body and organ donation, namely loss, grief, transformation, and emotion, into her ceramic vessels. On visits to her local East Yorkshire coastline, she observes the erosion and loss of this landscape body as a metaphor for human loss. Zivarna hand-forms her tactile vessels from stoneware and porcelain, layered with eroded wild boulder clay and impressed shells, rocks and fossils, all gathered from this coastline, imbuing each piece with a strong sense of place and connection. The forms draw upon structures she sees in her local landscape such as fossilised shell bodies, ebbing cliffs and sea formed rocks. She is interested in firing as a transformative process and the becoming of the vessel body.
