You can read more about the full series below in the note from Printed Matter 🤓 “As part of our partnership with neighboring institutions in downtown LA we’re collaborating with Hauser & Wirth Publishers on a series of panel discussions with LAABF exhibitors on topics ranging from graphic design to artists’ monographs. These programs will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings at 10 AM in the Garden at Hauser & Wirth. Fuel up with complimentary coffee and tea service provided by Manuela, the gallery’s onsite restaurant. Friday, August 11: Designer Garrick Gott and editors Karen Marta and Jake Brodsky will be in conversation about books that activate artists’ archives, including Hauser & Wirth Publisher’s new publication, Ed Clark: The Big Sweep. Saturday, August 12: Artist James Benning and designer Martin Beck will speak about Inventory Press’s publication Over Time: James Benning, Sharon Lockhart. Artist Karen Lofgren and designer Willem Henri Lucas will speak about emBRUJAda: Charms for the Living, published by Set Margins’. ***Sunday, August 13: Editor Venessa Appiah and type designer Juliette Duhe will discuss the application of generative AI in book publishing and present a collection of bookworks and experiments from Anteism Books that explore the topic. It’s live! 💥 OWS 10th Anniversary Deal Toy on @withfoundation I remember walking around Zuccotti Park in the fall of 2011 having just graduated from @risd1877 with heaps of student debt and uncertainty about what was coming next. I was writing for @rhizomedotorg at the time with @joanneislurking . New energy was in the park and big change felt possible. A decade later we are here on the 10th anniversary of the conversation and the movement. We face even more challenges together now. This new work is about using the newest financial instruments that rose up in the past 10 years to support fair pay for artists and work against inequity. @joaoenxuto helpfully called out in my last note that both @wageforwork and Bitcoin formed in 2008, just 3 years before the Zuccotti Park occupy movement sparked international protests.
