✨J Sanders Studio 2.0✨ officially begins July 1, 2026
After a wonderful 6 years at Artspace, my lease term comes to an end this Summer which means, a new studio space is on the horizon. Entertaining every possibility from a home studio, to a storage unit, and other spaces in the area, I am SO EXCITED to share that I will be moving to Bonded Llama Studios!
Bonded Llama has been a studio cooperative in downtown Raleigh, on Capital Boulevard’s corridor, since 2006. Nestled next to 11 other visual artists, my new studio space will be the future home of J Sanders Studio 2.0 – full of more color, murals, and thought provoking art than before…hopefully!😅

✨TONIGHT✨ After 70 First Fridays at @artspacenc (minus a few canceled due to COVID) tonight is my second to last event as a studio artist!
Furniture moved out last week so tonight it’s an open floor plan and all about the ART! With a few pieces pulled out of the archives, I am excited for them to find their forever homes with those who connect deeply with them.

Have you seen the new art along Booker Creek Trail? Artist Jackie Sanders (@jsandersstudio ) just completed our first storm drain mural of the year.
“This mural presents a bold, geometric interpretation of how water moves through our environment, transforming an often-overlooked storm drain into a visual story about connection and flow,” Jackie says. “Using layered color blocks, directional linework, and simplified environmental forms, the design illustrates key moments in the water cycle: rainfall, absorption, movement through soil, and eventual return to local waterways.”
Technology, infrastructure, and nature all contributed to Jackie’s experience creating this mural.

I have to confess: I’m a little obsessive about mural prep… on purpose.
Because behind every smooth mural install is a week of intentional planning so when unexpected variables show up (and they always do), everything still moves forward seamlessly.
From on-site laminated mockups to ladders and brushes galore, every detail is accounted for before the paint ever hits the wall.
Clients love it because everything feels seamless and handled. For me, it’s just my Type A energy showing up like it always does.😂
I went to @virginia.tech / @vt.sova because of their focus on integrating technology into their art program because in 2010 that was a “cutting edge” idea. 🤯
Now a decade later, clearly that mindset stuck as I use VR headset to sketch out my latest mural design in record time.

Continually upgrading and refining my on-site mural set up, this addition is a game changer. Guess this is what us Hokies call inventing the future!
