In comic books, a "variant cover" (sometimes variant edition) refers to an issue of a comic book printed with multiple covers, each with unique cover art. ART 2514: Drawing Concepts students were able to contribute to the movement! Each student chose their favorite comic or manga, but were given a twist: the design must incorporate an art style or movement. Covers here were created both traditionally and digitally, bookbinding by hand.Â

"Drosera Obscura" is a multi-sensory extended reality (XR) installation that integrates virtual reality, animatronics, sound and touch into a cohesive performance environment.
In this behind-the-scenes video, creators Tohm Judson and Thomas Tucker share insights into the development of the project, highlighting the inspiration, interdisciplinary collaboration, technical experimentation, and creative vision behind the work.
Developed through a partnership between the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT) at Virginia Tech and CIRMMT at McGill University, the project reflects ongoing research into how immersive systems can foster deeper, more embodied forms of audience engagement.

SOVA grad student Tatum Fox is creating a sculpture for their Creative Technologies MFA thesis titled Reflection. It is a fully 3D printed, life-sized model of her body. The model was sliced into a multitude of pieces so Tatum could then put them together. Tatum's thesis explores queer visibility and identity in the Appalachian region, with particular focus on how religious and political influences shape the experiences of queer individuals living in Appalachia.
