Life throws us these things that are shocking, unexpected, sudden, scary, and painful. We have to be strong. We have to be strong for our families. We have to suit up and show up, we have to fight the fight
Road to Born to Kill - a mini documentary on how we got the record across the finish line… out now on Social D’s YouTube.
This thursday 3/7 @braindeadstudiosfairfax I’ll be doing my first premiere on a documentary I’ve been chipping away at the past 2 years on the life of my favorite artist @coulterjacobs . An artist who by day works for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and by night creates in his San Pedro studio.
I reached out to @coulterjacobs on a whim early 2022 to see if he would be down to film a “day in the life” video of him painting in his studio. I was pretty certain he wouldn’t respond. He did. After our first day of filming he told me he had to wake up the next day at 4 am to “make changes in the water pressure for the city.” I said “can I film that also?”
What was supposed to be a 1 day shoot turned into 2 years of following @coulterjacobs around; visiting art supply stores, going to work with him at his day job for the city, car shows, art museums, dinners, driving around San Pedro, interviewing his friends in CA and NYC, and of course a lot of painting and discussing life in the studio. This was just something I really wanted to do. No agenda, pure passion. I have so much to learn in this craft but I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to tell stories and meet people that inspire me. Mostly I feel grateful for the true friendship I made with @coulterjacobs in the process of creating this piece.
Endless thanks to @braindeadstudiosfairfax for hosting this premiere. Thank you @coulterjacobs and @taren__coulter for welcoming me into your home the past 2 years and all the talented artists that contributed and allowed me to point a camera at them. I hope to see new and familiar faces March 7th. I appreciate you all.

hopped back in the van with @adidasskateboarding and @jenkemmag this year and had the privilege of making “TOUR STAR” - a 46 minute documentary of the @adidasskateboarding team traveling across the U.S.
18 days, 7 cities, 20 plus skaters, 4 cameras, multiple interviews. This project definitely pushed my boundaries in a lot of ways. Wrapping my head around this amount of footage, discovering storylines in the chaos, and keeping steady momentum on it each day. But every part of the process I love, even taking notes on the footage. I laugh out loud at my computer working on it. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do what I love. These projects keep me up at night and wake me up first thing in the morning. I can’t turn it off. Thank you @ian.michna for always trusting, supporting, and guiding my vision and @adidasskateboarding for treating us like family on the road. Now playing on @jenkemmag YouTube.
