Did some Live Painting yesterday at the @nostresssound Creator Collab Event, and got about 90% done with the image I selected. In checking out some of their artists that had came thru, Miss @_chloemelan had a fire song and look that I chose to paint. Caught the tail end of @cltshout this year with @djsoulchildd and got to experience the fantastic collaboration by @rebeccalippsart & @waffleiciousart entitled “Kaleid-Escape” that essentially lets you “DJ” how the visuals present on the wall. In 2022 @blaccanubis704 and @kingnuke757 were putting together a music video where they wanted a war torn battle flag with their logo on it. I thought it would be fun to document the process of messing it up after putting the time into it to make it nice, and it evolved into a commercial/ spoof of sorts. Went to a live sketching session last night for the first time in a HOT minute. @gastoncountymuseum was hosting, model didn’t show, so Alex of @dancingfoxcreatives took their place. On the Opening Night of the @chromatic.roots Installation, I went through the entire show seeing everything fresh for the first time, even though I had spent 6 months in the space focusing on my own contribution to the project. My Buddy @djsoulchildd accompanied me, and as we passed through the space @gonza_art curated, I had to cut up and have some fun, it was a vibe! I had no idea that almost 3 months later I would attempt to pull off a music video in the space, wrap up a song that was still unfinished, and have it mixed and mastered before Halloween! (pulled off the song release by Halloween, video dropped two days after 😅) “Facade” is available to stream exclusively on Bandcamp, the Full Video is on YouTube, links in bio for both. In 2017 I was granted access to see the installation @davidchoe had created for the @choe_show in LA. I drove cross country in my Honda Fit from NC. Instructions for attending the show were odd, but I followed them to the letter. Do not bring phone, keys or wallet, do not show up intoxicated up to 24 hours before the show or even jack off (tough crowd). I plotted my route through GPS beforehand, & left downtown LA for the 5 plus mile walk or so to Korea Town with no phone. Getting lost in a neighborhood for a short while, I started getting nervous thinking I would miss the show, until a mailman set me straight back on course. The picture you see first are the friends I made in the group that was put together to view the installation. A guide led us through the whole experience, which would take way too long to explain to the degree of Awesome that it was. An absolute roller coaster of visual delights & sensory stimulation, & I want to thank David for the time and attention that went into it. The culmination of the experience, weaving us through 3 entire floors in the upper part of an old Masonic Building, was to break our group apart and be led silently into rooms to sit in front of cameras with no instruction. For reasons I won’t elaborate on, my understanding of what was supposed to happen in that moment were tainted by where I was at in life, & instead of being grateful for the experience, or thanking David and the people that worked so hard to bring it together, I would say my awkward ramblings and posturing in front of the camera were disgusting and void of any substance. There is so much more to this story, & only a few have heard it in its entirety. Fast forward to 2025. I had the superb honor of participating in the @chromatic.roots art installation in Charlotte. At the Wrap Party, a confessional/ self reflection opportunity of sorts was set up for the artists to comment what they felt about the show or whatever they wanted to say. I felt the familiar sting of history rhyming, & did my best to course correct in that moment on camera. 🥹 #choeshow #LA
